Am I in the wrong?
Alright quick d0rk life update;
I asked a girl out the other day and she said yes (yay) heres the problem. A friend of mine of a few years liked her before I did, asked her to a movie (she said yes) and that was pretty much it. He doesn't talk to her on the phone. I asked if he planned on asking her out and he said no because she is to young for him (she is 16). I asked her what she thought of him and she said "I dont really know who he is. We're just friends." I started to talk to her and really started to like her and the feeling was mutual. A few days later I asked her out. I told him today at work that we are going out and he flipped. He starting telling me (through e-mail) that I am a fucking bastard and need to get out of his life and he can't believe I did this to him etc etc. When I brought up the point that he doesn't talk to her and she didn't like him more than a friend he said that I knew he liked her and shouldn't have gone for her. He then told me he wasn't pissed that I like her and were dating, he is pissed because he liked her first. Am I in the wrong for going for a girl that I liked even though he liked her before me but she didn't like him? Brian I came for the hatred. I stayed for the ballbag. |

Your friend sounds like the young one. He was the one that didn't see the potential relationship through. And I'm assuming you asked how each person how he/she felt about the other before asking the girl out. If you did, then you have done nothing wrong. Your friend specifically stated that he wasn't interested in her, and more than likely is feeling possesive.
If he's a good friend, give him some time to come around. After all, you can't live your life for your friends. Reminds me of a situation the hubby was in while we were still "talking". His best friend got pissed cause the girl that hung out with them was interested in Hugh and not him. Hugh had flat out told her previously that he wasn't interested. Best mate got upset cause girl wouldn't acknowledge him, so he punched Hugh in the stomach one day, accusing him of stealing her away. ![]() God damn soap operas. |

You are not wrong, the old "I liked her first" issue doesn't make her like him more because of that point. She just likes him as a friend and he stated she was too young for him and he's not interested, that's pretty clear to me.
You did nothing wrong and he'll calm down eventually. Oh, and congrats on asking that girl out, good luck! ![]() Mia

the only wrong thing you've done d0rk, is claiming someone who would flip out on you like that under these circumstances as a friend.

I dont think you've done anything wrong. If it was someone he'd been married to, or been seeing for a long time it could be a bit of an uncomfortable situation for him, but one date where nothing happened...no way.
He's most likely just jealous because he couldnt 'have her for himself', and if he's willing to give up a friendship that's lasted a few years over a girl he went on one date with, then he's probably not worth having as a friend. |

dork, ask yourself this question...
At the end of the day, who would you rather sleep with? Your hairy arsed male friend with the insecurity problems. Or The sexy, slinky, curvey chick with lady bumps in all the right places who obviously wants a man of your virility. Once you have that clear in your head, the way forward should be simple. |

What the hell d0rk? I thought you were getting married.
Guess I've been a little slow on the updates... "It's like saying give a man a Les Paul guitar and he becomes Eric Clapton, and of course that's not true, give a man an amplifier and a synthesizer and he doesn't become...whoever; he doesn't become us." - Roger Waters |

Hmmm... I consulted the rule book on this one. There IS a rule on friends not being able to date someone another friend likes. The reason for this is to prevent one-up-manship that destroys friendships. If he is going for her.. and you cockblock him... in the rule book you are a fucking bastard.
However, there are stipulations. You are not a fucking bastard under the following conditions: 1. If he has moved his interests to another girl 2. He liked her but she dated someone else and then they broke up 3. If you told him you were going after her and he put up no fight 4. She asks YOU out. (In this case it's best to tell the friend before accepting) 5. You have the opportunity for sex. (interest may only be shown AFTER the opportunity has presented itself.) 6. Random circumstance beyond your control forces you together (arranged marriages) That's what I found in the rulebook. SO according to this, you did not tell him you were going to ask her out, but you DID ask if he was going to ask HER out. Technically, you have not fulfilled stipulation #3. Obviously though, your friend is not as smooth with the ladies as you are, but he did let you know that he liked her therefore what you did is considered stealing (even if he takes his damn time). Even though she DOES like you, there is no guarantee that the relationship will last as opposed the relationship you've built over the years with your friend. You have effectively traded a bro for a hoe. You SHOULD have made known your intentions of askin her out. If you DID, this is a moot point and your friend needs to understand the rules and that he has lost his chance and next time he shouldn't take his fucking time, otherwise... if he's not a close friend i'd say whatever. If he IS a close friend you can: 1. buy him a drink 2. hook him up with someone else 3. apologize 4. duel for her (i suggest non-lethal boxing match). If he's smaller than you i suggest number 4. otherwise i'd suggest number 3. Ultimately it depends on whether you want to keep him as your friend. BUt from what you have said you have done your friend wrong. You fucking bastard (pun intended)
No sig here folks. |
