For all those people who skinned the DFX plug in a while back, and for all those that didn't, they have now started publishing those skins

Find them HERE

Some pretty groovy stuff in the archives there.

If you didn't skin one I suggest you try it, nice, not over complex and a good way to pass a few hours

And this would be the perfect opportunity to flaunt the DFX skin I just finished. Yep, slow but steady, that's Cappy all right.

For your convenience, you can grab it here.

Seeing as how it hasn't been published on the official site just yet...

So, has anybody received their secret decoder code yet?

Some minor updates to the BathTile DFX. Those who grabbed it on Friday may want to hit the link again.

BGD; Bleu is on it's way. No promises on the deadline though . Oh yeah. I got your email, then forgot to respond (something to do with you and I going on vacations...)

Duk; I seen what they did to Jenny. Damn. I'm surprised you didn't get a little more hepped up over it. You know, permission is a surprisingly simple thing to get usually.

Well, I'm treasuring my original, untouched by airbrush, collector's copy.

Cappy (and all who care), today has been absolutely terrible for me. My creative rug was jerked from beneath me ... flat on the floor. I've passed from rage into deep despair and resignation. ::arms forward, palms up:: My Jenny Skins have taken some severe punishment in many locales.

I ... I dunno. At a loss. ::shrug::

Is your DFX skin posted?

For the DFX skinners...They have posted a few more.

BTW, can anybody explain to someone like me how they are pimped? I believe Mr. Jones might know?

About friggin time, I'd given up skinning this thing due to lack of interest on DFX's part, nice to see that they are taking longer than winamp to post there submissions.

If they are working again, maybe it's time to send them those couple of DFX's I have hanging around doing nothing here , hmmmmmmm

By the way Wally, I've sent you the PiMP script info in the mail, well a start at least, more to follow when I get back my desk tommrow

Thank you very much, Mr. Jones. Might also be able to use it for other things if I have some examples.
And yes, I am interested in the Skinpacks. I made 2 DFX skins, and they are both on the DFX site. Use them if you want.

The DFX skin page does have it's (very) good points, you won't see comments there like: "my skin:yayang"

Chad, I wouldn't give up hope, FXsounds are fantasticaly slow at posting stuff up, it took them nearly 2 months to post my Jenny skin, and that was only after about 10 emails to complain about, why they hadn't posted it, why one of my other downloads was corrupt, why they posted the incorrect URL for my site.

Bottom line, they are slow, the lower line, they are unprofessional.

Ok Wally and anyone else whose interested here's the dfx PiMP script.

Ok, first up Wally you need to create and add to the directory on your hard drive where your DFX bitmaps are stored a plain .txt file called "dfx_skin.txt". This file should contain just the name of your dfx skin, so if it's called "wallys skin" thats what should be in it, your skin name should be the same as the folder you are extracting your bitmaps to when you run the exe. Save that along with all your bitmaps. This file, when installed via PiMP will tell DFX what skin to look for when it's first launched , so if you run your completed installer then launch DFX you should see your skin selected as the default.

Now before the script, I also add into my bitmap directory a "readme.txt" file, self publicity never killed anyone, if you don't want this, just take out the relevant bits of the script.

Ok, here's the script, obviously you will need to change the text titles, and the "addfile" paths to your folders, also the skin name will need adding in. The dfx_skin.txt file needs to be added to two folder when installed, hence the doubling up of the outfile commands towards the end
Quote:
;dfx skin PiMP script
Name Your plug in name
Text This will install your dfx skin

;set name of .exe
OutFile yourskin.exe

;set output path for main dfx skin
SetOutPath $PROGRAMFILES\Dfx\Shared\Skins\YOUR SKIN NAME HERE
AddFile c:\YOUR SKIN LOCATION\Main.bmp
AddFile c:\YOUR SKIN LOCATION\All_off.bmp
AddFile c:\YOUR SKIN LOCATION\Fader.bmp
AddFile c:\YOUR SKIN LOCATION\Numbers.bmp
AddFile c:\YOUR SKIN LOCATION\section_off.bmp
AddFile c:\YOUR SKIN LOCATION\Ten.bmp
AddFile c:\YOUR SKIN LOCATION\ReadMe.txt

;set output path for dfx skin selection
SetOutPath $PROGRAMFILES\Dfx\Shared\Skins
AddFile c:\YOUR SKIN LOCATION\dfx_skin.txt

;set output path for dfx skin selection part two
SetOutPath $INSTDIR\Plugins\Dfx
AddFile c:\YOUR SKIN LOCATION\dfx_skin.txt

;launch readme.txt on installation
ExecFile "$WINDIR\Notepad.exe" $PROGRAMFILES\Dfx\Shared\Skins\YOUR SKIN NAME HERE\ReadMe.txt
Any questions feel free to mail me

Hey, hey! All the DFX archive skins are self-installing exe's. If memory serves correctly, didn't they used to be zip's?

Guess they recognized a good idea, Mr Jones. Seems they're using WISE instead. They don't seem to understand the joys of PimPing...

DFX.com has done the right thing...

They have removed the rip of Mr. Jones skin within one day.
I would say that shows when people talk, they listen.
