HELP!! Error code: 80070057, Error creating DirectSound buffer!!

Ok first off, being that I know nothing about pc's, the only info on what DirectX version i could find was 4. Also, I have Winamp v2.9.

Ok, I haven't had any problems with Winamp until now. I was playing a song and decided to mess around with the visualizations options. I went to "select plugin", I then chose "Nullsoft Tiny Fullscreen 2001 (v2.04)(vis_nsfs.dll)" to see what it was. I then clicked on "Sexy Scrolling Voiceprint" to see what that does. It worked and I watched the visualization till the song ended, and BOOM. The error message pops up.
"Error creating DirectSound buffer. Error code:80070057"

No song will play now, when I try, I get that error message. I tried restarting to no avail. PLEASE HELP!! I don't know anything about pc's, I just got this one and am still learning.
PLEASE HELP!!!!

Thanks!

First thing you should do is to update your DirectX version. v9.0 can be downloaded here...

THANK YOU!!! That worked! So will the visualizations work now, or should I not poke my nose in there again? And is there anything else you think I might need to change to prevent that error from happening again?

Visualisations should work now. Try them, and report back if you have any problems.

I have a similar problem.

I'm running WinNT4 with SP6a and DX6 - the latest DX that supports NT so far as I know. I have 128mB, a GEForce Twinview graphics card, a Yamaha XG soundcard (and an onboard Avance which I don't use).

I have no problem running multiple DS streams on this PC. I can fire up multiple Windows MediaPlayers (eecchh) and the DS-based multi-track software I record my music on has no problems. Well, no relevant problems.

Last night I uninstalled WinAmp 2.8 (which I'd never used) and installed WinAmp 5.

If I select the "DirectSound output v2.2.8" plug, it either [a] freezes and has to be killed or, if I enable CPU usage control in the config, [b] gives me the joyous "Error creating DirectSound buffer. Error code:80070057" message.

I like that message. It's my friend. Not. But I'm starting to think it's moved in for good. Can you help me send it on its way?

WinNT4 is not supported.
DirectSound Output requires DirectX v8 or later (9.0b recommended).
You will need to use WaveOut only on WinNT.

Well this seems to be the place for this error. As the rest of the askers here, I to am getting this error.

So a couple of days ago I put DirectX 10 on my laptop. I currently run Vista Business. For a while now, while running XP or Vista and Directx 9.0c. I have been able to watch avi movies in Winamp 5. Recently I upgraded to version 5.56 (x86). And no more watching *.avi movies with winamp for me. This reduces me to watching them with WMP or vlc. Either option is subpar in my opinion. I have also noticed that the 5.56 version of winamp has immense trouble with playing videos of any sort.

I also recently installed the K-lite 4.53f codec pack. In the past this was needed to enable me to actually watch said videos in any player. Any thoughts on troubleshooting this problem with be appreciated thank you.

I tried to dl from the first reply 'here'. Windows (I think) wouldn't let it happen.
