I agree on this part. However, I'm not sure if anyone has access to the source to rebuild it with these new options. If they did, I would be grateful.
Also, if you install real alternative or quicktime alternative, you can encode .rm and .mov files. That's another thing they don't tell you about!!!
It might work if you just install the K++ codec pack, but I haven't tried it (I don't like the pack).
