Keyboard shortcuts don't work from video window under 5.2! Help!
I just upgraded to 5.2 from 5.13.
You guys keep breaking my balls with these video window problems. Now under 5.2, pressing the left and right keys doesn't go back and forward 5 seconds - and I'm also trying other keyboard shortcuts I have always used from the video window, such as Alt+3 to access the AC3Filter settings and FFDShow, and that doesn't work either! I might have to go back to Winamp 5.09 when all of these problems with the video window weren't happening! Also, the OSD disappears often after switching display resolutions and/or displays (I have made a couple threads about that!) God. Damnit! Winamp is getting worse and worse with every release. You guys keep focusing on the online services and the new Shoutcast browser (which from the poll, obviously everyone hates it), and all of that is secondary to what Winamp has always provided - a no bullshit media player that works great! That and the OSD problems which I've mentioned a number of times (still no fix for that under 5.2), and it seems little by little, I'm being forced to use another app to watch videos. I'm sick of getting no real answers from the developers about this. What the hell is going on!? Stop screwing with my favorite media player!!!!!!!!

Hey, chill out dude.
I can't reproduce the problem here. Alt+3 and left/right keys work fine in the video window. Sounds more like the old nview compatibilty bug to me... In which case, go to: Prefs > Jump to File > Misc tab and checkmark "attempt to fix compatibilty issues with nviw. This should fix the issue where the shortcut keys fail" If the problem persists, then as always, please read this first Re: "only focusing on online services" That was just one of the entries in the rather large 5.2 changelog |

I have the same problem on two different computers, one with an ATI card and one with Nvidia. Checking the jumptofile nview fix does nothing.
It seems to be that only when the video screen is selected (or in full screen mode)the arrow keys don't work. When the playlist or main window is highlighted the arrow keys work fine. edit: the arrow keys only dont wor'k after clicking on the video itself. after clicking on the frame to move or resize the video window, the arrow keys DO work. after entering full screen mode by double clicking the video the arrow keys DON'T work. after entering full screen mode using the button on the video frame the arrow keys DO work. I'm having the exact same problems. keyboard shortcuts don't work properly when I'm in fullscreen mode or don't have the main window focused. also, the fullscreen controls are all messed up in placement or don't show up at all.
I'm tempted to switch to another program for video playback which would be a sad thing because I do remember that winamp used to do a good job at playing videos in past versions. |

Okay, I've reproduced it now. Thanks.
The key factor is clicking inside the actual video window first, ie. not the frame. Yup, keyboard shortcuts don't work when the video content is active. This applies to all skins, modern & classic. However, I'm not sure, because I couldn't reproduce it at first. But after I used Winamp Modern skin with video attached to main and then clicked inside the video window, I then noticed that keyboard shortcuts (Alt+Enter, left/right seek, Ctrl+P, etc) no longer worked, and no longer worked when doing the same with the video window detached, or in classic skins as well... Yes, the shortcut keys still work ok if the video frame is clicked. The seek keys seem to work ok in fullscreen for me with AVI & MPEG (in_dshow), regardless of the method used to go into fullscreen mode, but I did notice that with WMV files (in_wm.dll) that the keys didn't work after using right click > fullscreen method (though they still worked ok if using the fullscreen button method). [Edit] Ahh, I can reproduce it in fullscreen mode with AVI & MPG too, when left clicking in the video window first, then using rt-click > fullscreen, ie. I can't repro it if I just use rt-click > Fullscreen without left clicking in the video window first. D'oh! At a guess, this is somehow related to the SingleUI skin component focus bugfix * Fixed: [gen_ff] playlist & video focus bug ie. it's probably another case of "fix one thing, break another" syndrome. |

... But internal build sounds like something they probably won't be releasing to the public ...
