SHOUTcast Yp Down, Issues, Etc.

Making this post so we dont have lots of people coming into the SHOUTcast Tech demanding that they need help with their winamp player

SHOUTcast's Site is down with SQL errors also the winamp player's Online Services works, but the listen links are not working giving people errors.

Noted here, here. & here.

Try tuning in at the site's that the stations provide as those links will work.

It is a shame this issue still occurs! You would think with all the resources AOL has at its disposable, they would have a cluster of servers to handle the increasing demand. There is no excuse for the YP being down and/or slow for nearly 48 hours.

tuckerm just because it is a free service does not excuse the fact this is a major issue. There are MAJOR software products and other 3rd party services that DEPEND on the shoutcast YP. And if I want to rant and voice my opinion on the issue I will, if you do not like what I am typing do not read it.

"Yp down" is not a frequent phenomenom, and a DIRECT LINK to the required station always works.

There's always a troll shooting at the ambulance, so I suggest to place (on Shoutcast's homepage) either an unmistakable "picture", saying "Yp down, Winamp links to Shoutcast inoperative. This is a free service, please be patient", or
an "Yp test button" that would then bring the same kind of message. (same as for MSN Messenger connection problems)

A steward in front of the broken lift is of no use if there's already an "Out Of Order" panel.

Am I wrong ?

shoutcast.com was down totally, so there was nowhere to put up such a message.

No software/service/server is infallible. These things happen.
Main thing is it's now all fixed.

Again, a big, visible "Yp down" or "Yp up, rebuilding links" would be a good thing on Shoutcast's home page coz I wonder about my understanding of my own computer ...

only the aol admins/dev team have any bearing on such an implementation and if all of the servers were down (as was the case theh a dead site is a pretty good indication of things yes?). this thread was the best that us un-paid moderators/forum users could do since we were all in the same boat in not being able to do anything directly.

But I still don't understand what's going on: 1) the whole site goes down (obvious sign of course), 2) site up, "Yp down" thread (less obvious) 3) "Yp up" post, but Winamp's inability to access the streams (now obviously mysterious).

Could you please help?
