Chopped files while converting from .rm to MP3

Hi,

I'm using Tara and out_mp3.dll to convert some .rm tracks to MP3. It's pretty successful, except during the conversion process the end 3-10 seconds of the track gets chopped off. The odd thing is, the problem varies. Sometimes it's 5 seconds, sometimes it's more or less, sometimes the actual MP3 registers as a different length but the actual track is identical (?), and if I convert the same .rm file again the number of chopped seconds varies (so I can have two MP3s both converted from the same .rm file, but of different lengths)! (?)
Any ideas what's causing this, and how I can stop it? I'm using WinAmp 2.81 on Win98SE, 733Mhz P3, 128 Mb RAM.

Thanks

Dominic

Which MP3 Output plugin are you using?
(There's 4 or 5 to choose from)

Erm... it's the "Nullsoft MP3 output" thingy - can't remember exactly, but it's out_mp3.dll. Is there more than one out_mp3.dll?

Yes, there's 4 or 5 different MP3 Encoder plugins.

Nullsoft out_mp3.dll uses the Windows default codec (Fraunhofer LCODEC*.ACM)
Which version of this codec have you got installed?
The default one which comes with Windows?
Or have you got the pro version?

My recommendation is Stephen Lhomme/Mike Lynch's out_lame plugin:
http://out-lame.sourceforge.net/ (latest v1.63)
http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=143606 (v1.62)
http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=71812 (old)

Others:

Peter's out_enc.dll (uses LameEnc, included)
http://nunzioweb.com/sawgstuff/mirror/out_enc.exe

Jasper Gronde's File Writer Output plugin:
http://home.hccnet.nl/th.v.d.gronde/...ite/index.html
http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=96985

MP3 Output plug-in, by John Adcock:
http://www.adcock8.freeserve.co.uk/winamp.htm

Chun-Yu's plugin:
http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=33396

GoGo-Wrapper plug-in (MP3 encoder plug-in that uses the GoGo encoder), by Boita: http://www.muratasystem.or.jp/~boita/

With Justin's Nullsoft plugin, that makes 7 to choose from, never mind 4 or 5, lol

However, I don't use any RealMedia formats or Tara, so I've no way of testing/confirming anything, or of diagnosing the problem...
