like everything i do, its been influenced be recent things i saw and thought. it happens to be that i saw a cool lookig mini-hifi in a magazin with an orange circuel as a lcd with a long fertical cd slot comming down form it. this was my first instparation to make this skin. second was hal 9000. cant say that i have sceen vags "macheye" but it could get hard to make compleatly unique skins around here with vag posting a new idea every week..lol

If the edges were rounded more i think that you would have a better feel to it.

also what to start this on the right foot, for color presets, you obviusly need seprate lyers for the highlights and glass and anyhting that can have different colors from one and another. is it as symple as it there is a transperent "white-black gradient" shine on a metal backround and you change the b/w gradeent to color gradients in preset?

No, you can't really change the individual gradient colours, it basically flattens another layer at a choosable color over your layer.

Well, basically each preset uses RGB strings out of like 3500-ish (I forget exactly) and its basically like a winamp-3 made layer colored from your defined preset put over the layer. Not really like the photoshop hue adjustings.

k, more info needed. i notice that there are translucent glass element put ontop of text and other images. is this simply a image i make the has transperency in it and save it as a png. or do i need weird masks and stuff to do this. also interested in graphicaly how i make sliding elements, are they just images which are place by layer (in the coding) under another image and by this they are hidden from sight untill called for?

With the glass effect, the transparency can ether be in the png file or you can use the alpha="0 to 255" tag in the code. With the transparency in the png file method, it can of course have alpha transparencie, and using the alpha tag you can affect it though code. You can use both, say use the alpha in the png file to make light shining effects since that requires different levels of transparency, and then you can use the alpha tag and some MAKI to let people tone down (or up) the amount of glass there is.

With sliding elements, yes they do work like that. Also, you can make them 'disappear' so that if it is bigger than you can fit under some other layer, you can sets it's alpha to 0, making it invisable, and you can set it's ghost to 1 making it unclickable.

In both cases code wise you are just working with a layer, it's how you work with it that matters.

it almost looks like it wants to be some sort of neo-cathedral themed skin (that would be awesome)

being that i'm jewish i'm not sure it this is going to be making this into a cross though the thought did cross (no pun intendeed) my mind. may make it into a plus symble though. what do you guys thing of that?

on another note, cool idea. see the division in the lcd, well each menu will have the lcd slid away to show another layer beneath. top layer (show here) is the vis area, next in song info and track time, even though i have yet to post the alterations, below that it will slid away to exposs the eq area. cool also the thinger will slide up from below as one presses either small orb on the two opposit sides of the skin, they will be the arrows for moving the thinger.

boy i'm realy getting into this freeforming skinning stuff , too bad WA3 sucks in the resorce managment area cuz i cant even run it with alpha blend on. and i have a gighz machine!

Yes, it looks quite good, but try and make sources for the light, tiny light bulbs?
Also I'm not a big fan of the outer metal, doesn't seem.. 3d enough.
