Removal of `rm

I just want everyone to know that after a lot of thought and consideration, I've come to the the conclusion that rm` and any of his other alias' are no longer welcome in the Winamp Forums.

I personally have had several long discussions with him regarding his behavior and about his beliefs and why he's trying to do what he's trying to do. He believed he was fighting for a cause, one greater than himself. He should have known better than to relentlessly break the rules in hopes of change.

He clearly does not have respect for any of the mods, any of the staff, or the other people within these forums because his behavior has been a great disservice. His destructive nature to bring about change is not appreciated and will no longer be tolerated.

At this point, I have personally taken the steps to delete all his known aliases and have asked all the moderators to delete any posts that he may contribute going forward.

He has complained on many occasions that these forums are not what they once were. His behavior is nothing more than contributing to that problem. Any member who thinks that any kind of disruptive behavior will be tolerated, you are wrong and you too will be removed from these forums.

It is one thing to speak your mind, it's another to test our patience and break our rules. These forums will not be a playground for those who wish to break it's laws. We welcome the opinions and criticisms of any member, but unruly posts geared at up heave will be removed.

Thank you.

-s

P.S. Those of you who feel that this is unjust and out of line, you're welcome to ask for your accounts to be removed. These forums are a privilege, not a right.

The issue is a controversial one, but I agree. This is what Administrators are for.

Job well done.

He got what he deserved. I wasn't ever a huge fan of his anyway.

Good job, steve.

Arin,

If you read this, which I'm sure you will. Don't bother creating any new accounts either, I have instructed all the mods to ban you on site and remove any new posts you add.

It was not any one thing he did. He continued to test the system and taunt the mods. Everyone agrees that he got more chances than anyone to redeem themselves, he chose not to.

His actions have consequences, he and everyone who agrees with him will learn the hard way. I refuse to let him be the poster boy for crude and immature members trying to make a point. Enough is enough.

well sometimes u need to test the rules to make new ones. but i guess u learned that...

but i (and maybe others) have a problem with u giving out bans just because they seem to disapprove of how you handled the situation. im not saying u are wrong, but just keep in mind, please use discretion before handing out death sentences.

also, im just pointing out a point, so dont go banning me because i seem to be "deviant".

isn't it possible that rm could just create another account from another place, like a library or a friends house? and only use it at other places?

It appears anyone who shows more than an ounce of intelligence or an inch of a spine is leaving this place, one way or the other. Bop, papadoc, watadoo, Chev, rm' and others have left or are extremely unhappy. I'm glad administration made a decision. It shows the direction they want these forums to take.

Have fun chatting about Dragon Ball Z kids. This old man is packing up and leaving. It was fun for 2 1/2 years, and I'll miss many of you. But this is the final straw.

Bye!

Does anyone know of a forum that is like what this place was when rm and bop were around? Holy Jeez, these turns of events have actually bummed me out. I fear that this forum will now turn into thread after thread of bland, unimaginative ramblings and whinings. It seems more and more difficult these days to have an intelligent conversation with another sentient being.

Though unpleasant, perhaps this is the only way we can maintain cohesion in the forums.

Drastic actions result in drastic reactions. Moderation is the key, whatever you're fighting for.

i dunno, peachy? one day SLK disappeared... after that it became trendy to have your mug on a milk carton.

i really don't remember rm' doing anything, but i disappear for a few weeks at times. (hi, back?) i just found out bop is MIA too. i don't remember if i liked him or not...

i'm sure everyone missed Aly though.

Just a couple of comments. I for one am extremely concerned with ban happiness. I don't want members being banned for that which they should not be. However, Arin's behavior has gone unchecked FAR to long.

These forums will NOT be a haven for people looking to make trouble. If you have something to say, you should say it. Be reasonable, use common sense.

I'll be damned if I will allow a couple of bad members corrupt the spirit of this place.

Also, I keep hearing how things were so different when watadoo was around. You know what, things are what you make of them. Just because you're longing for better times doesn't give you an excuse to wreak havoc. These forums are a reflection of every contribution made to them, good or bad.

It's up to each and every one of you to make this a better place. If you see someone misbehaving or making trouble, tell them that their contributions are not appreciated and to go elsewhere. Notify a moderator and have them take action.

Each of you have a responsibility and a means to make these forums a better place.

Well, I don't totally agree with your decision, but I respect it. RM was a very intelligent person, and one of the reasons I stayed at this board. His good acts outweighed his bad acts 100 fold.

It is because of this that I won't be visiting these forums half as much. I like these forums, but like randman, this was the last straw. I'll see ya guys. It's been a fun year.

P.S. I think 'rm should at least be able to make a goodbye thread for the legacy he has had. He has been one of the cornerstones of General Discussions, and the entire forums.

Somehow I doubt it.

Oh. yeah. Uhm... Yeah.

edited because either ive grown a set, or the codine is kicking in, or something. is the fact that once well known and recognized/respected people are leaving, and have been leaving, in droves, not clue enough that something is wrong?

i couldnt honestly care any less for this place [gen d]. its filled with stupidity, boring redux's of topics discussed millions of times over by members of the past, and when a few people try to bring that to the attention of the owners/moderators, they get shrugged off as if theyre the ones who are getting old and onery. so radioactive man decides to help it out a bit. let a few more people in on the subject than usual. sure, it occured by breaking multitudes of rules, but it got your attention, didnt it? it raised one hell of a shit storm, didnt it? it worked.

people leave, yeah. facts of life. but when i "came back" a month or two ago, and the only people i recognized were the huffy mods and the ignorant clownfucks of yesteryear, i grew depressed. there were maybe 2 or 3 people who i actually felt I could still respect as I did back in the day. this isnt the WA Forums of old, and it never will be again, thanks to your actions.

colin, over and out.
