there media box, the backgrounds a bit ugly but you can change that for you own use easy enough. It seems to default to the size of the background image, but you can stretch it. The only thing I don't like about it is there isn't a minimize button.
Don't know where you can get it, devient art is pretty much the only other place I go so theres a good bet it's at winamp.com or deviantart.com. ¯¯¯¯Joe Bloggs____ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ |

actually, would it possible to make a full screen jukebox skin
where you had a window with a complete playlist which you could click on the songs to add them to a new playlist (which was what winamp used) and no back next buttons.... that would be cool for parties - for some reason people at my parties only listens to 30 sec's of a track before someone skips to another song..... very annoying when you are dancing with a girl you're trying to pull

Making a good full screen skin is tough. good luck...
btw, BH, it takes a lot of feng shui to make a good full screen skin ![]() The space to use is just so huge....

Well, I'm working on one:
BasRqqls It's 800x600 and meant to be used with a remote control (I have an ATI Remote Wonder.) It's still very prototype-y, and (so far) doesn't use any bitmaps, just gradients and rects. Still, it's pretty nice with a remote and a recent build. I still have to use the mouse to make the playlists, but once it's set up I just use the arrow keys on the remote to pick the movie I want to watch and then switch it to fullscreen (which I have another button for on the remote.) --Brennan |

Yeah, I probably could, what with the proportional sizing stuff added in recent builds.
Note that it also shows cover art, if you have a coverart.jpg in the same dir as the playing file. Neat, eh. --Brennan |

Brenan, does it only show files "coverart.jpg"? Most of my front/back/cd covers have different names.

Yeah, just coverart.jpg for now. Do your jpg files have any consistent naming scheme to them? I could make it look for other names too, I suppose, but if they're just random names it won't really be feasible unless it shows any and all jpgs in the dir, and that's just kinda silly.

I wanted a full screen too so I started with the media box one.
Here's the link to the 800x600 media-box skin:mbox skin I'm very new to skinning, so I've only changed the buttons and background for my uses so far. I'm trying to figure out two things - How do I make the media library come up automatically on startup? How do I change the text color in the media library in this skin? I've tried numerous suggestions from other threads, but they just seem to get ignored. |

that would have been nice to say you took wasabi studio as your starting point and used some gfxs + code of it too... I don't have trouble if someone takes what I did and do something else with it, but say it somewhere.
thanks |

misunderstood
Ummmm...I don't think you understood me. Someone up top was asking for a link to a full screen player and media box was mentioned. The link I posted was from someone named Rob: here
I downloaded it from his site and am changing it for my personal use. I don't plan to post it as my own - I'm trying to make winamp resemble XP Media Center Edition's menus. I came across the media box one and it was the closest one I found. SNYder - they look fine at 800x600 on a TV. |

Does anyone know how best to source / develop a full-screen (normally 800 x 600) skin with as little as possible; no title bar, minimize, maximize, exit controls etc; nothing but:
A background graphic which can be easily changed Album title Track title Remaining time for the track |<< << > || >> >>| (nice big buttons) <--------------------------------> (a slider bar) To navigate the top row of buttons, the listener would use the left and right arrow keys, then press the enter key. To navigate between the top row and the slider bar, the listener would press the up or down arrow keys. To use the slider bar, the listener would use the left and right keys. Or the user would use a mouse. Fast forward or back would probably move 1 minute at a time. I'm not a professional programmer but I can handle a certain amount of high-level "programming" if necessary. Thanks to anyone who can tell us how best to make quick progress. |

Sounds easy enough. Not sure about the button thing tho, I'm not sure I even get that. Could you show us a mock up so we can see roughly what it will look like and how it will work?

Simple full-screen skin
Thanks J Bloggs
Here is a rough skin layout. Now you know I'm not a professional graphics designer *or* programmer, but hopefully we have other strengths :-) The background graphic and the screen res must be changeable. The slider isn't vital if the fast forward / back can move the player x minutes forward/back at a time. The important thing is that the row of control buttons and any slider can be navigated to and controlled with the cursor keys and enter key (as well as with a pointing device). In descending order of "idealness": - this already exists somewhere (I *have* tried to look) - someone who has done plenty of skins will do it for fun - there is a skin painting package - there is a similar skin and good instructions on how to modify it I currently have Photoshop 3 for Windows and the latest Hypersnap. Thanks Mikemcc |

I have an idea, if nullsoft doesn't mind.
It's pretty simple, but that means it can be resizeable and used on almost any resolution. I might stick the playlist in the massive blank bit in middle there as well. ¯¯¯¯Joe Bloggs____ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ |

Thanks J Bloggs, I suppose you are in the European time zone somewhere.
I would tend to put next and previous track on the outside of fast forward and fast back. I am not allowed to have the playlist etc. I probably have to have a background graphic. Logos like winamp and Nullsoft are fine if they are easily replaceable with other logos. Is the slider bar impossible ? Can it all be "run" with the keyboard ? mikemcc |

What is this for anyways?
The sliders possible. It could be run from the keyboard by hotkeys, like alt+c for pause. [edit] GMT +12 [/edit] ¯¯¯¯Joe Bloggs____ ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ |

Sorry Joe Bloggs, I sent you an email, the gist of which was that I want to be able to play MP3 audiobooks, with an MP3 file per chapter - hence there's not much need for a playlist for fiction books, although non-fiction could do with a playlist as a chapter index.
Thanks. Mikemcc |

Continue making theese fullscreen skins, it would be really cool to have some good looking ones..
Like Adil said, it's hard to make a good looking fullscreen skin.. I really like that Media Box skin, atleast the concept.. It would be cool if someone took that concept and made his own graphics for it. Using Wasabi/Wa3 standard gfx for it is problematic, because it's so small, and a fullscreen skin needs big gfx.. ![]() So, yea that Media Box has it going, but I would rather see it with original gfx, not copied from MS.. -Plague Winique work-in-progress (download) | Stargate:Winamp - SG1 Edition | D-Reliction | wasabi.player skin Opal Redemption | X-Slant | wa2skin.wac | Wasabi Wiki | WASD | /j #wasabi | Breed 011101110110000101110011011000010110001001101001 |
