Not as easy to install as claimed !

Im saying that with a reason cause the whole story or documention or whatever you wanna call it it not for the general newbie i think.
In my book a documentation goes like this...Step 1..step 2..Step 3.
But nothing like that.
Best part is that readers are refered to pages of installation and there they refer you to the docs of the server ,and there you can figure out what it all means !

When i was running around i found a nice site where they had it all installed and mailed them how it all works.
well thats not so difficult he said !

downloaded the file to run my own server and installed it.trying to figure out what it all means (ini file)
So i made a link with the url to where a simple mp3 file should be but got errors like that its not a valid source,then wrong password.
Using a link called http:my IP:8000/filename but nothing works.
I just get page not found.
And the forums are just as funny,one person says this,the other says that.
How can that be usefull as help ?
So who's gonna save the shoutcast reputation ?

ok,
use http:my IP:8000/filename.pls
insted of http:my IP:8000/filename.mp3

shoutcast will automaticly add the pls extension.

also if your using windowz,
make sure that you RUN the sc_serv.exe from the SHoutCast folder!
C:\Program Files\SHOUTcast

and it is simple, try searching the forums with the error that you got

It is installed in the shoutcast folder,it created that folder itself.
Using your method with pls or song.mp3 doesnt work also.
Get the "invalid source" error.
I cant even log in as admin.and i use the admin and passwrd as i made in the config file.
Thats what i call stupid.
The only thing that works is the shoutcast screen you get when you type the adres in the browser.

forgot to mention that even if the server is on,the administrator screen says server is currently down.

no no no,
I said, START the sc_serv.exe from that folder!
then just the .pls extension like I said.
I run the server, trust me I know! and everyone seams to get ondemand stream wrong the first time.

So you mean,first create the SHOUTcast folder then copy the exe into the folder then install ?

you said that you installed the server already right?
if so, then so to that dir, and start the SC_SERV.EXE from there!

Think its better if you tell me what i have to install,your talking about an sc_serv.exe .
But i dont have a file named like that.
I do have that file AS config file.
The server part i downloaded was 1.9.2 DNAS and the DSP 1.8.2b
So perhaps you can tell me if im using the wrong one or what

even typed http:my IP:8000/mix.mp3 still get error "Invalid resource".
And the admin page still says "Server Status: Server is currently down"
And its running ! (well that means ..its on )

you need to use http:my IP:8000/mix.pls to stream it ondemand,

and do u have shoutcast installed on your comp, yes or no?

after HOURS of failed attempts....

the main reason is that you must have your mp3 files be at the same encoding (bit rate and frequency) that your dnas is broadcasting..

when you start your dnas (sc_serv.exe) it starts broadcasting in A spesipic bit rate and frequency.

you can change it via your winamp application, after installing the dnas plugin for winamp.

look in the "encoder" tab.

the other problem is that you must have all your mp3 files to be at that exact bit rate and frequency.

you can do it by converting your mp3 file back to wav file, and re encode.

Its all in english so sometimes it gets to difficult.
Do i also need the plugin for on demand ?
