You have the "error opening source socket! FATAL ERROR! Some other process is using this port!" error resolved?
For the latest bunch of errors, check out the Sticky post titled: SHOUTcast: Important Info & Answers to FAQs. READ ME! Scroll down a bit and look for the section titled: DNAS Stuff -> Errors -> Fixing [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (Cannot see your station/computer (IP: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxx) from the Internet, disable NAT/firewall/ISP cache (Connection timed out) Are the necessary ports open in your firewall and are they being forwarded to the DNAS machine? Check out http://www.radiotoolbox.com/cantheygetin and see if the reported information there helps. What is Atomix? |

Windows ME doesn't have one. At least one that is built into the OS like XP. Please describe your network setup: do you have a router, cable modem, dsl modem, CSU/DSU, etc. And most importantly, are you the admin?

Festerhead has bots for this one...
You need to review your router documentation to find out how to open the ports your DNAS is using. The default is ports 8000 and 8001. Many cable ISPs (sounds like an oxymoron, doesn't it?) don't allow servers and don't provide static IPs. You may need to investigate dynamic DNS services. And that is something that can be given by yet another bot... |

Check out the FAQ at the link below, under the section "Routers, Firewalls, and Networks. Oh My!":
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=70403 You should be able to find a section specific to the router you are using and it literally hand-holds you through the steps necessary. BTW - No offense meant, but running and maintaining a station will not be easy by any means if you truly don't know anything about computers. The DNAS opens up the computer you are using to the world (which your router is presently preventing) and that is an open invitation for potential trouble. I'm not saying that Shoutcast is insecure by any means, but you are opening a big door to a new world that you admittedly know little about. |

Putting it in overly simple terms... you don't drive without a license (well, at least you shouldn't).
There is a dark side to the Internet and forewarned is forearmed. Being an admin is a responsibilty that shouldn't be taken lightly. I don't mean to discourage you from ShoutCasting, but I'd HIGHLY recommend taking a class or reading up on basic networking and the Internet. It's an old cliche, but knowledge is power.

Support is voluntary and I'm not going to be on for more than a few minutes tonight anyway, so I won't be back until sometime tomorrow when I find some free time. That said...
The basic info is in there, it's just a matter of finding it. Your router's manual (in all likelihood) can be obtained here: http://www.speedstream.com/support/pdf/2602_manual.pdf The top of page 17 mentions some of the nasties I was referring to earlier. Immediately following that paragraph is the section that details how to do the forwarding mentioned in the FAQ referenced above. The section entitled "Configure Special Applications" on page 18 is EXACTLY what you need to do. Of course this assumes that your Speedstream equipment is really a router and not a bridge. BTW - I wouldn't touch AIM if you paid me.

I'm popping in for a minute to clarify something I should probably research before saying, but here goes...
There may be something in the TOS for using these boards to cover my butt, but I personally have an issue giving someone direct information to change or disable features of a firewall or router. I feel that it puts me at risk in the event you get attacked or hacked as a result. This is why I've been telling you to read the FAQ in hopes that you'll learn from the experience and gain confidence in managing your setup. |
