ZeldaAmp 64? I'd need help.

You people may recognise my "Zelda Amp" series, especially Zelda Amp III, which is generally everyone's favorite. I'm not planning on making a Zelda Amp 4, that would be based on the Game Boy Game Link's Awakening, and JJPotter has a skin like that that I don't need to try to compete with. I want to make a Zelda Amp 5 - based on Ocarina of Time, or "Zelda 64" I could even call it "Zelda Amp 64," bacause that would aboid the skipping #4 problem. However, with little more than MSpaint and Microangelo, I have no way to capture images directly from the game, and worse, no way to fuse images together, photo-shop style. So I was hoping to collaborate with someone--- preferably a very experienced skinner, with resources and knowlege enough to make a consistent, N64-quality skin, with the same level of creativity as Zelda Amp III has. Here's a random page of Zelda 64 screenshots: http://www.planetnintendo.com/zelda/5screenshots.shtml
Look at this one in particular: http://www.planetnintendo.com/zelda/...enshots/18.jpg That music staff thing can serve as the home for the C-buttons... This will take a lot of work, and I know I can't do it very easily, but it can be done. Any geniuses want to help?

I always wished that you - with your great ideas and fun animations - would make a skin that wasn't held back by old-school 16-colour graphics. Can't wait to see this one!!

If you own the original Zelda 64 I think it would be legal to get a Nintendo 64 emulator like NEMU and a Zelda rom. Both usually available at Kazaa. That would enable you to play the game on your computer and take better screenshots.

I don't think my computor could handle a 64-bit emulator. My computer can't evan handle Kazaa. http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/adv...ex.html?page=3 These are screenshots from the high-res rerelease for gamecube! (five pages of them) And they should help, although I'm still not sure what the whole skin will look like yet. I do like this one: http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/adv...s.html?page=27
If the horison were just above the posbar, and top of link and the horse were between those K-bips numbers, and the moon was above the songname, then all the text and vis could be blended into the sky, and the shufrep buttons would be on the ground. I'll try to make a mock-up... and I think I have a perfect idea: Navi(the fairy) for the Volume bar! I'll also try to mock that up, but it will ultimately need better lighting effects then I can do.

Big misconception, read Nintendo's legal documentation..

Can I Download a Nintendo ROM from the Internet if I Already Own the Authentic Game?

There is a good deal of misinformation on the Internet regarding the backup/archival copy exception. It is not a "second copy" rule and is often mistakenly cited for the proposition that if you have one lawful copy of a copyrighted work, you are entitled to have a second copy of the copyrighted work even if that second copy is an infringing copy. The backup/archival copy exception is a very narrow limitation relating to a copy being made by the rightful owner of an authentic game to ensure he or she has one in the event of damage or destruction of the authentic. Therefore, whether you have an authentic game or not, or whether you have possession of a Nintendo ROM for a limited amount of time, i.e. 24 hours, it is illegal to download and play a Nintendo ROM from the Internet.
There is also a lot of stuff on the illegality of Emulators on there as well, so please, before anyone points Luigi towards an emulation site/rom site , please think again before posting such links on here, they will be dealt with the same way as any warez/copyright violation, along with the said poster.

Carry on...

Nah, Kazza is ok, it's not like you are providing links to anything illegal, if you'd posted some of the dubious ROM sites that I visit from time to time, then that might have been different

You could still edit it yourself if you so wished

This will be an OoT skin specifically, and if all goes well, MM will not be far behind. What do you think of this layout for the main window? It's taken from that picture I pointed out in my last post.

looks really nice. but you need higher quality pics IMO.

the cbuttons should be easy to recreate in PS from scratch though.

Hmmm... is there any way, with PS or PSP, that somebody could blur/smooth out that pic? I don't know any other way to approach the quality issue. :/ The game itself looked great, but the quality was never really in the graphics... Suggestions are always welcome, but I don't have any high-end graphic stuff, so actual help is even more welcome. I'll still keep browsing for higher-quality pics though, but I think I like that layout in the main... could it be recreated? Or at least, photoshop should be able to shrink the images better than I did it with paint.

I think the EQ and PL buttons could be made like the A and B buttons, like... http://www.planetnintendo.com/zelda/...eenshots/5.jpg the green and blue circles at the top, with either icons or text... and MAYBE the monoster could be like those c-button icons with the little numbers... and hopefully we can get some of those chickens into the skin somewhere.

Whoa, Xeno, those CButtons look PERFECT! AHAHAHA now I have 100% confidence. If you can do the sky and the moon, that's great. I'll see what I can come up with for Link and/or Epona. And if you read this before you've done to much work, see if you can't make sure the vis area is a solid enough color. ^^;;

Link looks awesome, as does most of the background. I won't tell you about the vis, beacuse you know. Epona looks good, but the legs look a bit strange-- I noticed that in the original pic too. I dunno how to fix that, but they probably just need to be played with a bit. Awesome, awesome work so far.

cbuttons

Do these pressed states look right? I did them in Microangelo. If you already started them, Xeno, we can use yours, they'll probably be better. Maybe they'd look cool with some floaty translucent music notes in the pressed states. I'll think about it. Still trying to come up with ideas for the EQ. I like how the main window is black at the bottom, the transition will be smoother that way.

instead of doing the animations right off the bat, how about you keep working on the mockup by adding the different buttons and stuff.

IMO it'l be easier to do a whole lot at a time then waiting for animations.

here goes nothing

I finally got an idea for an eq that I like. It's a really rough mock-up, but I think it'll work. It's based on this screenshot here: http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/adv...s.html?page=39 (That should be the right one) I don't know what to do for the sliders/bars, maybe vines, maybe spiders, maybe fairies. I've also copied in some more buttons. The green button should maybe say "EQ" instaid of "drop?" The sword can stay a sword. If you can, line the buttons up so that the image/text is entirely within the button, so it can dissapear, you know? Above that are the c-buttons, again, for various items with numbers, I think they'd make a good monoster if the left one said 1 and the right one said 2, and the middle one didn't have a number. That one could be the ocarina icon, but I'm worried those are all too small to have the icons clear anyway. :[ Then there's the rupee count and the heart container for shuffle and repeat. Shuffle: 012 for off, and some other random number for on? And the hear peice could be empty when off. And then the library button is the map, and there are little hearts for the clutterbar. Sorry if I'm saying really obvious things, I don't know why. Thank you very much for helping me, Xenosomething, and sorry if I'm making you do a lot. :/

Wow, that looks really nice. Is it just me or do the screenshots you post keep getting murkier and darker? It's not a big deal, I assume you have all the higher-quality bitmaps on your computer, and you're compressing them to message-board size? I don't know. Either way, it looks great. Now I think I'll feel less bad about having you make vines for the EQ... but not yet, I'm not sure if that's how I want it. Now, I'm going to search for a playlist-looking pic. O.o

http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/adv...s.html?page=50 I have used that screenshot for the playlist. What do you think? It needs a lot of smoothing out, and if you can, the stone could use more texture, I think. Oh, and that big purple blob? The more that looks like fog, and the less it looks like crap, the better. I'm not sure what to do for the other stacks, probably people, or gossip stones, or those little skeleton dudes. Or some combination, depending on which I can find. See what you can make of that, thanks.

Hehe, don't worry about it. I'll try the demo, I guess. I'm not worried so much about difficulty as computer power, but I'll try it. I have a fancy new monitor! Well, not fancy. But it's not broken, and that's what counts. And as for the bitmaps, I was just hoping for a non-jpeg version of the screenshot you put up earlier. *goes to download demo* /EDIT: It seems to be "unavailable" or something?
