winamp 3 playlist sidebar in 5?

There is only one thing stopping me from going over from 3 to 5. In three (dont know the official name of the bar) theres this side bar in the play list to the right that contains loaded playlists and selected items in the playlist. I find this side bar incredibly convenient for switching between multiple playlists and for tracking down a song. Can anyone tell me if this is an option in 5? I know there is the media libraray for organization, but the little side bar is much more stream lined and part of the play list. Thanks.

Multiple playlists are stored in the Media Library in Winamp 5.0.

Also, Winamp3 was a seperate player. Winamp 5.0 is based on the Winamp 2.X core.

And Search before posting.

does Sawg know something we don't

ansanter: it was called the sidecar and is not in Winamp 5.x as you have found.
at the moment i'm working on a replacement Playlist Editor which will be like the Winamp3 one (putting out a new preview in a day or so which shows it coming along quite well i think). (see this thread for more info)

well then

well, for starters, I searched, and didnt find any satisfactory answers, therefore I posted. And thank you for your answer. so yeah, winamp 2 is separate from 3, sure, but obviously they are very similar. So there is no sidebar in the winamp five playlist, and I said that I knew of the media librarys multiple playlistes...so i guess my next step is asking where I can request that the next release of 5 should have the side bar. Does anyone else know what Im talking about from 3? isnt it conventient? its a lot like the sidebar in mozilla. The libarary is convenient, but when only dealing with lists, the side bar is much better.

thanks DrO

Thank you Thank you thank you DrO.
I really want to get started using winamp 5, but I am currently using 3 with the non step skin which I have set to snap to the top and dissapear and re appear with mouseover. I have to say that it is most convenient and unobtrusive, and until I can have this(i know I can use that skin with 5) and the sidecar, I will not be happy. Thanks. I look forward to seeing it in 5. ok, and i really need to know if anyone agrees with the fact that its much more convenient than the library if only dealing with audio/lists??

yes it is but the problem is that doing it would break a lot of classic skins in doing it, and some other reasons.

you have to remember that Winamp3 was built with it implemented from the start whereas Winamp 2.x and now as 5.x has not been - would involve a lot of reworking i believe.

it is noted in the Winamp 5 wishlist (sticky thread at the top that forum) so the devs are aware. maybe it will end up in there natively otherwise it's down to my attempt

[edit before posting]
you're not the only one who wants this implemented.. cos i do at least
