timed out

I get "timed out" message when I try to listen to radios on the net, including those recommended by "winamp.com" site.
I can however listen to some radios, but only a few (e.g. trance channel on digitally imported)and even then not all the links are working.
Can you help me to solve this problem?
Is it connected to some settings or to firewalls.

Thanks, Egg. Here's some details:

I use a 2.76 Winamp and I enter the net from the office using LAN internet connection.
I don't know the speed, but it's pretty high judging by the time a page is downloaded (cause I think we use dedicated lines. So I don't think the speed is a problem.
I have an IBM T40 laptop and I use Windows 2000 as operating system.

If you need additional information pleasew do tell me.

Best have a word with whoever's your LAN administrator, sounds like you may not have access to all ports.

Latest Winamp version is 5.02 btw.
