damn that's cool
...but do you need MPlayer to be installed or is that what mplayer.dll is s'posed to be for? all I was expecting in the .zip was in_mplayer.dll |

Yes, unzip both mplayer.dll and in_mplayer.dll in the winamp\plugins folder,
and that is all you need. in_mplayer uses mplayer.dll as the decoding engine. DirectShow is NOT used by in_mplayer. By default "override in_dshow" is checkmarked in in_mplayer config (prefs > plugins > input) but you can uncheck this if you wish... eg. my current config: in_mplayer extension list: MPG;MPEG;M2V;AVI;DAT;VOB in_dshow extension list: ASF;WMV;OGM;AC3 |

but how are you s'posed to interact with DVD menus? it's wanting to repeat the beginning vob file over and over then I have to navigate to the menu vob manually and even then I can't make a selection in it.
I'm thinking the cause is it's alphaness. could that be the main problem here? <edit>the problems I stated above were while I was playing a dvd from my hard drive....also I'm having troubles getting dvd discs to play period |

Well for coolness factor alone it gets a
![]() The video flashes constantly while playing xvid files for me though, but the playback is better (in other video players on Windows the video in some xvid files stops while the audio keeps playing ... probably cause my PC is fast becoming out-of-date) If only it didn't flash it would be EXCELLENT. Try increasing the post-processing in the config (Preferences > Plug-ins > Input). Fixed some flickering errors for me with just one notch.

Thanks drewbar, worked like a charm
![]() Another thing I noticed is that on some files it stops playing about 1 or 2 seconds before it should actually end. And yet another thing is that on some files the progress bar only reaches about 1/2 to the end by the time the file is over. Since this is, afterall, Alpha, these things are to be expected I guess. I already think it is great and really look forward to future developments ^_^ |

what is mplayer exactly? Is that like windows media player 6.4 or more like 5.1? I'm confused as to what is going on here.

mplayer was originally a media player for Linux and other Unix based operating systems. This is based on the Win32 port of it.
Unlike WMP, MPC, Zoom, BSPlayer, or almost every other single video player for Windows it does not use DirectShow filters to decode video, instead using it's own internal decoders (since Linux doesn't have DirectShow/DirectX). www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/ |

Plays very smoothly (after setting postprocessing to 1), but unfortunately no vorbis audio.
DirectShow seems to eat CPU for breakfast, both VLC and mplayer have far less problems even with high resolution mpeg4 than any dshow player. |

hm
it actually ignores the setting of the auto video fullscreen plugin...
This has to be set on the mplayer wishlist. This plugin replaces my niceMC media plugin which was too buggy to pay for. But i´ve one question: How do i play a DVD with mplayer ? My videos look crappy when checking "De-interlace video". -is that normal ? I´d think of quality improvement when hearing de-interlace. |

@wieesiee: De-interlacing is only necessary if you see combed edges.
Most PAL DVDs are already progressive, as are VCDs, WMVs and DivX videos, only MPEG2 and XviD can potentially be interlaced. |

hmm.. wondering if anyone else reproduce these:
1) Add videos to the Media Library and files which are supported by in_mplayer are placed in Audio instead of Video 2) Video stops playing when switching from classic skin to modern skins and vice versa. It'd also be nice if in_mplayer would revert back to in_dshow if the format isn't supported. (ex. trying to play OGMs) |

I also hope that I can use Winamp own Output plugins for sound instead of mplayer own sound engine. I need those DFX DSP processing

Sweet, Awesome, and Gnarly.
I've hit a few random crashes and since they are random I can't make a judgement on why. I found out that I had to set my CD Digital Output up to full because I could barely hear the sound. I tried it so far on a DVD called Minority Report! ![]() Note sure why but my VCD burns weren't being recognized by the plugin which is not necessary for me right now. It just doesn't see it I guess. The sound could use an improvement. It's just soo soft. Thanks that's it from what I can tell. |

mplayer works great, except for a small problem... I put in a DVD and after a few seconds, it started playing in winamp... but it had the audio commentary track on instead of the normal audio. Not so good. Not sure how to fix this or what the problem is either. Anybody else have this happen?

uninstall: acornsoft pwrplay
install: in_mplayer.dll even though it cuts out several seconds before the file actually ends, it's worth it to dump the pwrplayer because i can actually pause playback (gasp) with this plugin. ![]() |

DVD Lockup
Hi must say th@ its great th@ i can play DVD's in winamp now. I have found though th@ i have 2 put the dvd on the 3rd or 4th channel (eg dvd://D,3) to be able to watch the DVD as mplayer doesn't support menu's.
I think the plugin's great and hope 2 c support 4 subtites and possibly menu's. -=Mini=- |

It's in the 89th percentile for activity, so stuff is getting done, just more devs i think are needed. I'd love to help, but i'm clueless on the topic at hand.

too bad it's the same version I already have, but on the other hand, with it beeing opensourced, new versions should pop up quite frequently, or so I hope. |

*BUMP*
i really would like to see further development of the best video plugin for winamp. i think the problem is that it isn't very well known yet. that's also why i'm bumping this thread. please, good coders, help ron aegis in further development. winamp together with mplayer is absolutely great. you don't need one of the many alpha gui out there. why use them anyway, winamp has the media library and winamp is the media center. thank you. |

btw, the player itself doesn't need development, it is already very stable.
it's its integration into winamp (and the video window) that needs further development. thank you. |

I'm having sync problems with the latest version of the plugin. The audio gets WAY ahead of the video when decoding Xvid. For the heck of it, I tried changing the postprocessing level, but it did no good. Any other ideas?
