Do you mean Beats Per Minute? I don't think that would be feasible. As far as I know BPM is a guesstimate and not part of the tag data.

It's a part of the MP4 tag and the ID3 2.4x spec, but Winamp's tag-reader is only up to 2.2 or 2.3 or something like that. Winamp can't check the disc number, compilation flag, or BPM field in an MP3...yet...

Take a look in a tageditor like Helium2! There are so many columns that can be stored in mp3s and there are useful: BPM, involved persons-function, musicians-instruments, albumartist, feat. artist, releasetype, mediatype, mood, situation and so on... A dream would become true if somedays this great player could read and write them and use them in the ml.

Instruments used? Mood and situation? I thought those were proprietary tags. Anyways, we don't need anything better than 2.4.x ID3 and better (read: less bugs) MP4/AAC tag reading.
Helium's wiggy tags are NOT readable by most other programs. Even MMJB, the ruler of all that is proprietary and tweaked, does not support all those fields. Although, they ARE part of the WMA standard tag...hmm...but who wants to use WMA? ~ Dude "Be excellent to each other." ~ Bill & Ted Member of the ml_www project. 4G 20GB iPod w/ Winamp 5.05 and ml_ipod 1.12 |

I am confused!
I don't know much about ID3 tags, only what columns wich editor can write. Is it not the same standard in every programm??

I found a free utilty that calculates BPM's from my mp3's and inserts them in the ID3 tag.
(http://www.mixmeister.com/download_freestuff.html) How hard can it be to let winamp read that? Don't make us switch to iTunes just for this

I strongly agree.
FOr what it is worth, this would be top on my winamp wishlist.
There are alot of columns "hidden" under the ML Customized Columns section. But BPM is not one of them. We can use other programs to populate the BPM field, but we would like Winamp to allow us the option to arrange the tracks via the BPM column. |

Winamp 5.32:
* New: [ml_local] new filters for three pane view (album artist, genre, publisher) They added a whole bunch of ID3v2.4 columns in latest release. But (argh!) not BPM for some reason. With any luck this will be done next release. |

You can use %bpm% in your Advanced Title Formatting string (Prefs > Titles) to show bpm values in the Playlist window (assuming all your files have a bpm tag). Maybe there'll eventually be a column for it in the Media Library, but note that it's not at the top of the to-do list...
Besides all that, please don't revive old threads or crosspost |
