Sleeping shoutcast, why? Help

Hi

I'm running shoutcast in my own server on linux. I have already ran it so many times without errors like this one, "Sleeping". Hope you can help me.

This is what i got when i ran ./sc_serv:

********************
** SHOUTcast Distributed Network Audio Server
** Copyright (C) 1998-2004 Nullsoft, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
** Use "sc_serv filename.ini" to specify an ini file.
*******************

Event log:
<11/08/04@20:32:09> [SHOUTcast] DNAS/Linux v1.9.4 (Mar 17 2004) starting up...

<11/08/04@20:32:09> [main] client main thread starting
<11/08/04@20:32:26> [sleeping] 0 listeners (0 unique)

Ok, DSP is everything fine, with address, port and password. When i tried to connect for broadcast i can't, it freezes connecting without any answer in DSP for Winamp and SAM2. Like i said, the config and dsps are correct, because i could stream after this error.

Also i tried to enter to my usual url for streaming in iexplorer and got "not found" error.

How do i solved "Sleeping" in order to begin streaming as soon as posible?

So many thanks in advance!

You are not sending a source stream to it.

"<11/08/04@20:32:09> [source] listening for connection on port 8001"

The server will 'sleep' until a source connection is present. But irregardless you should still be able to access the DNAS through port 8000.

Did you set your DNAS to only respond on a set IP in the lines SrcIP and DestIP? If you did and the IP changed this can cause an unresponsive DNAS. Honestly I'm seeing nothing in the log above that would indicate any problem.

Yes, it's any

Hi

Thanks for your time.

The weird thing is i tried to connect from DSP Winamp and SAM2, with everything correct and i got the same, can't connect. And, i also can't see the default page from the main url (http://misyte.com:8000), i got "can't be found".

Yes, SrcIP and DestIP = ANY. Both.

Like i said before, this happend suddenly, one day to other. This could be a block from my hosting or something like that?.

Help me please to solve it as soon as posible. Thanks in advance.

Are your server and the Winamp/DSP combo on the same PC?

Is the Linux server located at the same location as the PC or is it at a seperate location?

Have you tried a ping and traceroute to the Linux server to make sure you are able to properly send data to it?

Have someone else try the DNAS's link to see if they are able to access it. Generally if you can't load the DNAS status/admin page the problem is with the DNAS or the server hosting it.

Hi.

No, it's from hosting that gave me SSH/Telnet access to it. Yes, i already made ping with MS-DOS emulator in Windows XP and i recieved everything fine on screen.

No, my staff neither connect nor i, since that "sleeping error".

Could be a block for recieve and send data from my hosting?

Thanks in advance. Again.

It is possible. Depending on the host there could be a firewall in place that only has certian ports open. I would check the sc_serv.log file on the server to see if it's communicating with the outside world. If it is unable to you will definately find errors in the log file.

If there are errors see what they say as it may lead you to the problem. My guess is your local setup (DSP/Winamp) is fine and the issue lies at the server end.

Something is causing the DNAS to shut down. I've seen this error before but can't recall a solution for it.

You might want to change the SrcIP and DestIP to the IP you have assigned to the server. Also make sure you are logged in as ROOT when you execute the server and see if that makes a difference.

Sorry, I don't have MSN on this system, only ICQ.
