Winamp.com Music cuts off
Recently, Winamp.com Music has stopped working for me. It will play a song for about 2:40 before abruptly cutting off the song and moving on to the next one in the playlist if I am using a playlist. It doesn't matter where in a song that we start, after playing for about 2:30 it will stop.
I've tried playing many different songs through Winamp.com Music all with the same effect. Winamp.com Videos does not do this and neither does the Internet Radio through Winamp. I recently tried to run a Shoutcast server and station from my computer but removed them with the thought that it may have been the culprit--no luck. I also uninstalled and reinstalled Winamp. I am using a D-Link Router and Sygate Personal but it worked before with these both running. I tried messing with different combinations: D-Link - Sygate - Time Played on - on - 2:38, 2:40 on - off - 2:28, 2:38 off - on - 2:38, 2:37 off - off - 4:00, 2:40 I can include a copy of the HijackThis log if you think that it would help. My sister is networked through the same setup and she also experiences cut-offs at around 2:30 - 2:50 into a song. Windows XP - SP2 D-Link Router Sygate Personal Winamp 5.06 |

Winamp 5.07 was just released (December 2nd). Try upgrading to 5.07 and a clean install is suggested.

I clean installed the latest (5.07) Winamp and am getting the exact same problem. Cuts off at about 2:38 on every song. I did, however, decide to try something else. I have a broadband connection and always play the 64kbps songs so I tried playing a 16kbps song and it played all 3:27 seconds of it. I then tried to play the They Might Be Giants Full CD at 16kbps and it cut off at about 8 minutes into it. That's just a bit less than 4x the play time that I was getting out of the 64kbps songs and 64kbps just happens to be (4*16)kbps. Not sure if that helps any--I hope it does because this is majorly frustrating. I'm going to reset my router settings, test, and then clean install Sygate. Please post if anybody has any ideas here. I'll update again after doing all that.

Still getting the same problem. I reset my router settings and uninstalled Sygate, tried to play Cherry Blossom Girl by Air 64kbps and it cut off at 2:54. This is annoying beyond belief.

Still having troubles with Winamp.com Music here. Does anybody have a clue as to how to fix this? Or maybe, is there an official tech support email address that I can contact or does that cost money? Gotta get my streaming audio back!

Ah, found the Winamp tech support page. Now I guess it's just a matter of time until I hear back from 'em.
::suffers with regular MP3s in the meantime:: |

You may not have much luck in getting a reply (limited staff and such).
Try the Direct Sound conifg tweaks. Make sure the firewall gives access for Winamp or to streaming media. Make sure Winanmp's internet connection settings (Ctrl+P > General Preferences) closely your internet connection. Do you have McAfee PrivacyService? There is a known issue with radio streaming and MPS... Sticky: Problems with streaming (McAfee Privacy Service) | (suggested workaround) When you say Winamp.com music do you mean the Media Library or here. If the internet page... Try Clear the Internet cache MS Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options... > General tab > click the 'Delete Files' button under "Temporary Internet Files" -or- Control Panel > Internet Options icon > General tab > click the 'Delete Files' button under "Temporary Internet Files" Otherwise, post the HjT log as you mentioned previously. |

Okay, did the Direct Sound tweaks, tried to play Paul Oakenfold's 64kbps 'Starry Eyed Suprise' and it stopped at 2:36 minutes out of 3:48.
As indicated with the firewall tests several posts above, even with both firewalls down, Winamp will stop playing at just under 3 minutes. I don't have Microsoft's Privacy Service as far as I know. When I say Winamp.com Music, I'm referring to media library's links. I've attached my HiJackThis log. |

there are some things that need fixing with that log. I don't have time to check the whole thing now though other than saying to anyone who looks at it that there are some problems.

Although some are listed as "no file" have HijackThis fix the following...

However it's access to the internet may be causing problems when you listen to music streams. To only other great concern that I have with Weather Watcher, is the executable file (ww.exe). While I don't think the following is related to Weather Watcher, Symantec has ww.exe listed as the W97M.Tabi.Trojan. However there is no specific mention of Weather Watcher. Anyone else find something I did not? |

Nope, still doesn't work. I did all that and it still cuts off at about 2:48.

The main event around when it stopped working was when I was trying to set up my own winamp radio station server. I keep thinking that it must have something to do with that because both computers on our network began having problems with Winamp shortly after that. I cannot imagine what could be wrong--however, because I reset my router's configuration and that's the only common bond between the two comptuers on our network... I don't really have a clue.

Just went to www.winamp.com and tried to play the music from there (the html equivalent of the media library listings) and it's exactly the same as when trying to play through media library. Just now cut off at 2:48 on Deborah Cox's "Something Happened..."

Try running both SpybotSD and Adaware (in that order).
I can see that you already have SpybotSD installed, but make sure it's the latest version and you have the latest detections installed. After running both scans and fixing all that they find, if any of the following entries still exist, use HJT to fix them: R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {5D60FF48-95BE-4956-B4C6-6BB168A70310} - (no file) O1 - Hosts: 64.24.234.120 swirve.com # Added by Utopia Angel >> swirve.com is actually 206.104.8.34 << O2 - BHO: (no name) - {00000EF1-0786-4633-87C6-1AA7A44296DA} - (no file) O2 - BHO: (no name) - {549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file) O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5D60FF48-95BE-4956-B4C6-6BB168A70310} - (no file) O2 - BHO: (no name) - {6754A456-BAD9-11D4-93D3-00B0D03A2F91} - (no file) O2 - BHO: (no name) - {BDF3E430-B101-42AD-A544-FADC6B084872} - (no file) O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file) O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {2ECB7FB2-0333-416F-92FD-4904AD49252B} - (no file) O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present O16 - DPF: {276595D9-1388-512A-F24E-B6B3DE32B732} - http://media.cdigix.com/Performer/downloads/PerformerSetup.cab O16 - DPF: {AB29A544-D6B4-4E36-A1F8-D3E34FC7B00A} - http://install.wildtangent.com/bgn/partners/aolim/install.cab _______________________________________________________________________ Is insightbb.com your ISP? Apart from that, I am as baffled as everyone else :/ |

I did all of that and it did find a few spyware progs but even after removing them AND turning off lnsatt and DeadAIM, the music stopped at 2:31 for Cyrus Chestunut's "What Child Is This"... The proxy server was leftover from when I had to setup our Insight Broadband, I took 'em out but it still doesn't work.

The router that I am using is Di-624 rev. C with f/w 2.50 right now. I've tweaked, rebooted, reset, and done everything thinkable with it with no luck. I also power cycled our cable modem with no results.
