There should be a little ban button next to your name. And if more than 85% of the people who see your posts click on it - your IP is banned for 6 months.

That would be sweet.

Then to make sure the service wasn't just used to kick unpopular people, it could be reviewed by the mods, and if two or more mods agreed, user banned!

Yay. Winamp Forums. Let's do it.

Hi Benjamin

My name is Missy. I am an old lady <36 years Old>. I live in Atlanta GA and am a single mom of 3 boys. They are the coolest little guys in the whole world

Do you have a job? How are you saving money to buy a car? I started working when I was 12 years old. When I was 18 I had enough money saved to buy a car and pay for my own college education. It was pretty exciting. I wish life was that simple now!

What is your native language? You type english really well. I only speak english and envy people that can speak multiple languages.

What kind of music do you listen to? And what in the world is a prawn?????

How old

What age is year 11? (I live in Scotland, which for the record has an educational system seemingly completely unlike any other so comparisons are hard)

I take it you don't need to design many websites, if you're still at school? I'm going to give you my stock warning -- if I see you using tables for layout, the ninjas will be dispatched. And for clarification, don't you mean "Literary Studies"? That's probably a pretty good description of what we called "English" at school.

hey zootm, year 11 means i turn 17 this year and next year is my last year of secondary school, as for tables, a definant no (unlike this website).

literary studies, literacy, i think they both work, anyway u understand.

and spaceplay i appologise for using obscene language. i do throw around swearing a bit too much and forget that i should behave.

It's nothing wrong with it, but as a commercial webdeveloper, you should follow the w3c(http://www.w3c.org) recommendations, which recommend that you only use tables for data, eg. the periodic tabel, or buss departure info and such, where every cell (except those with the row/colum info) have the same type of data eg. atoms or buss departure times.

For your homepage, no body expects you to make it by any recommendations, BUT the people that actally charge money for their work should do their work properly.

EDIT: And I can recommend http://www.csszengarden.com and all it's designs of the single html file for inspiration of using XHTML 1.0 Strict for the basic HTML and CSS only for the rest like font-types, layout and positioning of objects and elements. Also pay http://www.w3schools.com a visit. There you'll find brief and simple examples for many aspects of webdesigning.

XHTML is a reformulation of HTML 4.01 in XML 1.0

Tables are tables. Visually and semantically. A table should be used for what you see tables used for in books and so on. They are not layout items. It's not portable in any way, and there are many, many problems with it.

So, what do you reccomend using instead of tables? Frames? For the site I'm working on right now (and I'm liking the way its working quite a lot), I'm using DIV's, with the main content DIV divided by a table. Found at www.geocities.com/jerimiah40/html.html . Can you think of a better way to do it? I'm open to suggestions.

That page doesn't look right on my computer.

Use divs in divs if you really wanna split stuff up. But seriously, think first about the content (one div holds "news", one holds the menu, etc.) before the layout. Then you can completely change the layout with CSS.

Oh and as for the rest of this dicussion.
Ben, you can't expect people to think your intelligent when you create a topic entitled "i pood my pants". And the way you talk about various computer related topics, it is very surprising you design web pages.

I said alot of stupid things when I got here to, mainly spam and the such. However, there is still no need to act like a complete moron.

I'm going to give you one more chance because you seem to be acting a little more normal now. (Although the Eminem diss wan't cool, he's an excellent lyricist, and somewhat excellent producer.)

If you think that old music had more soul, why do you listen to U2, the epitome of pop-rock that they once claimed to despise?

Also, what's wrong with Eminem? It drives me nuts to hear young people (this included people in my generation) that say they "dig old music" but don't like newer stuff. Newer rock? There are some really good songs out there nowadays. Maybe they don't have the Santana or Red Hot Chili Peppers (first few albums) vibe, but some of isn't that bad. And if by newer shit you mean rap, I don't think you've listened to the right stuff. I'm sure there are some R&B stuff you'd like.

Personally, I don't have the same taste as you, but that's not what drives my argument. I'm confused why people call this new stuff "shit" before they even listen to it. I've done the same thing, but losing my cd playing in my car, forcing me to listen to the raidio, allowed me to search around and find some really good stuff around. Probably not anything you want to hear, but that's only because I listen to different stations than you. I'm sure you could find some new music you could be into, you just haven't tried hard enough.

Oh, and frames suck donkey dong.

- Your site looks correctly in Internet Explorer which 90% of people have, but about 8% use firefox so you should make sure it works in that as well (which it doesnt, the footer is at the top and the blue background doesnt continue down the page)

download it at http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

Generally, something marked "footer" is not aligned at the top-to-middle right-hand side of the page. The background only goes down into the second line of content in FF as well. I suspect it might be resolution dependent?
