shoutcast dsp 1.8.2b locking winamp

posted related problem in winamp forum, but isolated now (after doing repeated re-installs) to the shoutcast dsp 1.8.2b plug-in for winamp. so it's a shoutcast plug-in issue.

initial use is fine, but stopping, playing back, freezes/locks winamp, tracks won't play, meter stays at 0, and control/alt/delete has to be done to exit winamp. couple times even locks shut-down (need to manual shut down).

winamp works fine after i un-install the dsp plug-in and re-boot.

shoutcast server connects fine.

windows firewall allowing all shoutcast, winamp, and ports 8000 and 8001 (even with firewall totally disabled problem remains).

no bugs, trojans, have re-booted several times, directsound enabled (of course), no mp3university or related winhlp32.dll files (i've been reading the forums for 4 hours!!)

it's definitely related to the plug-in.

xp home, delta 2496 soundcard(latest drivers).

please help, someone. want radio capability.

you are one kool kat blues king. thanks for that direction. streaming as we speak at: http://205.209.84.79:8000/listen.pls
using spacial winamp dsp plug-in. keeping my fingers crossed on this one...also hoping it's free, there's a registration key and $45 price tag on the site, maybe download is for demo period...

now functional with:
winamp (full)
shoutcast dnas server
spacial dsp plug-in

i reckon i should re-load my music match plus program though, to convert mp3 files to load into winamp. winamp doesn't have a converter!!?? wtf??

any more advice on all this greatly appreciated...thanks

you are right about the download being a demo.

if you want to use it , you gotte pay for it.

for other dsp solutions , check out the discussion part of the shoutcast forum -- thread called shoutcast toolbox v2.0
all sorts of things to be found there.

for converting to mp3, check out dbPoweramp, freeware and damn good in converting other file types into mp3.

thanks again blues king, great link! after realizing spacial is demo, downloaded oddsock winamp dsp. more involved user-end wise, had to download a "lame-mp3" from remote link, copy .dll to oddsock program file...but mp3 encoder does not appear when opening winamp/oddsock, only vorbis shows. e-mailed author, waiting...

so the quest for the perfect dsp remains.

spacial dsp looked/worked great btw, just dropping $50 on a dsp at this point to broadcast occasionally to a few listeners doesn't justify expense.

just wanted to update previous message, that oddcast v.2 (not v.3) does load the lame-mp3 encoder.

waiting to hear about possible bug with v.3.

hopefully this will help someone in same predicament, who uses shoutcast server but needs alternative to shoutcast dsp.
