Rating to ID3 Tag

Is it possible to make Winamp Library save ratings to ID3 tag, Because I want to see these ratings on other PCs?
Thanks...

sort by rating in the media library, then select all files with a given rating value and write something like "rating:3" to the comment field.

unfortunately this will overwrite anything else that's in the comment field. even with all the smart views and smart playlists and all that, i have yet to see a tagging program that gives you a way to effectively *append* information to id3 comment fields on a large scale.

it takes some doing, but i know how to append ratings onto the comment tag.

you need mp3tag (external app)
and drag 'n drop (plugin)

it would be nice if you could drag and drop from media library to mp3tag, but the plugin only handles the playlist editor, so ....

1)do a ML search ?rating has 4
2)enqueue all to the playlist
3)select all(ctrl+a) and then drag and drop all to the mp3tag window
4)In Mp3tag > select all files (ctlr+A) click the A button.
5)to make a custom action
-click new configuration (star) and name
-click new configuration
-select action type: FORMAT VALUE
-FIELD: COMMENT
-Formatting: %comment%, rating:4
-ok

comment should now go from "Various Artist" to "Various Artist, rating:4"

you dont have to go through step 5 all the time, you only have to make the custom action once.

now in the custom action dialog, checkmark only the actions you want. click ok. remember mp3tag does have undo.

And if your ML database isnt updating afterwards:

#2 - another easier way with a difft plugin, but still using mp3tag.

you need activewinamp (winamp plugin), then replace existing .dll file with the CVS
read for more info, and CVS download

download this .txt file, save in program files\winamp\plugins\scripts\ and rename teh file extension from .txt to .vbs

if you cannot see file extensions in any window's window > tools > folder options > view > uncheck "hide extesnions for known filetypes"

now you can do a ml search, select all, then rightclick > send to > script:mp3tag
Attached Files
File Type: txt sendto_mp3tag.txt (2.1 KB, 581 views)

Thank you for your replies!
I'll try these advices as soon I get the chance.
So there is no way of doing it only 'inside' winamp?

you can overwrite %comment% in winamp, but you cannot append to an existing comment. To edit multiple files in winamp media library select the ones you want then right click > Edit selected items

If you don't mind scripting, you can use the ActiveWinAmp plug-in to do this, and a lot more.
