shoutcast station info crash
fresh install of 5.11
asus p4p800 / 2.6GHz / 1GB windows 2003 server standard sp1 geforce FX 5500 driver 6.14.10.5673 soundmax integrated digital audio 5.12.1.3630 directx 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) classic skin 1. in medialibrary do a shoutcast search. search for kjaz. connect (doesnt matter if its full) 2. click stop 3. click play watch it crash. (Maybe all shoutcasts do this. a few I randomly tried all did it) This is probably related to the god damn station info window. If you connect directly to http://205.188.234.33:8004 (kjaz) via open url then it will never crash because station info is not used. If you disable the station info window via the new prefs page, the crash still happens --details on installation-- full version installed. agent disabled library/predaxis disabled modern skins disabled ui extensions disabled visualization disabled all icons/associations disabled --details on crash-- usually it is [ICY 200 OK] http://2-5.188.234.33:8004 - Winamp: winamp.exe - Application error The instruction at "0x00000000" referenced memory at "0x00000000" The memory could not be "read" |

Hmm... weird. I can't reproduce this. The stream plays just fine for me via the ML, with or without the Station Info browser enabled.
Any error message with the crash? If so, then what's the details? Using any extra 3rd-party plugins maybe? [Edit] Ahh, you edited your post... Could you possibly post a HijackThis log? [/Edit] |

I dont have time to futz with doign a real clean install, but I did install it to another directory and ran it from there to verify the problem. certainly no 3rd party plugins there.
After testing many times I have encountered two occasions where it took three attempts to open the stream for it to crash. On the second attempt I would have brief flickerings of the mouse cursor and it felt like it might crash but didnt. But then it would on the third |

culprit identified--admuncher
I am running the latest version of AdMuncher. Disabling all filtering will solve this problem.
Apparently (and this does not sound like a very good idea) there is a bunch of mshtml and jscript stuff running even with the station info popup disabled. Curiously, and in keeping with this observation, my mouse cursor flickers like mad while some kind of automation stuff runs whenever i open a stream from the media library (again, even with the station info popup disabled) This sounds like it could be a problem with admuncher, but I still call it a winamp bug because the html stuff should _not_ be running when i disable the station info popup. |
