Winamp fails to start when main window minimised

I have been seeing the same problems as user bboyfobulous in the thread "winamp will not start".
Basically, winamp installs ok and works first time after install. From then when I start it, I see it in the taskbar but no interface.

It just hangs and the error report says szAppName : winamp.exe szAppVer : 5.1.1.168 szModName : hungapp szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset : 00000000

After some playing around, I have found that this only happens when winamp is closed with the main window off (eg. just the playlist window open). If I open winamp.ini and change mw_open=0 to mw_open=1 all works fine again.

Please can you help with this as I always like to open just the playlist window docked at the top of my screen and only since I installed 5.111 that I have this problem. 5.112 is doing the same. Any workarounds I can try?? (already tried a clean install and reinstall). Only thing I have found to resolve it so far is adjusting mw_open=0 in winamp.ini.

SYSTEM:
Dell inspiron 2200 notebook
Win XP sp2 (up to date)
Intell Celeron M 1.4ghz
512mb RAM
40GB HD, 8GB free
Mobile intel 915GM express chipset graphics 128MB
Cable Broadband accessed through wi-fi

Thanks.

Best I can suggest is switch to a modern skin, these seem to be immune to the problem.

i can reproduce the problem as well.

step:1 open winamp (classic skin) then visible all windows (eq, pe, library)
step:2 hit alt+w
step:3 close and restart winamp
result: it doesn't display not only main window but also playlisteditor.
and winamp never responds.

to solve this problem is manually edit winamp.ini that MrMagooIRL described above.

clean installed wa5.112 + w2k sp4

Nope, I still can't reproduce it.
Then again, I'm using 5.12 beta (internal).

if 5.12 don't have this problem, it's good.

I've just had confirmation of the bug's existence in 5.112
and I can also confirm that it was fixed some time ago in the 5.12 beta builds
(which is why we couldn't reproduce it, heh).

It hangs for me when closed with Playlist open and Main closed... Eliminate the .ini file and it's back to square one and works as if a clean install... What can I send you which is useful for debugging. Been using Winamp for years since paid registration days and not seen this before.
