Windows 2003 - mp3 file won't open with by double clicking

I can't doubleclick on an MP3 file and have it open. Video files seem to work fine, and it works fine on XP. The files are associated with winamp, it just won't open. If I open Winamp first and play an mp3 it also works fine.

Any ideas are apreciated.

Windows 2003 with latest service packs and patches.
Latest Winamp 5.12.

Thanks

I have never heard of the following issue affecting Win2003, but maybe....
Known issue with WinXP SP2 | (suggested fix).
No luck? Please post additional system specs.

DCOM is running, although the options to stop or start it are grayed out.

Windows 2003 with latest service packs and patches.
Latest Winamp 5.12.
Pentium 4 2.8 GhZ Processor with 1gb RAM
Gigabyte Motherboard

Norton Corporate 10
Microsft Anti Spyware
(although disabling these makes no difference)

Other players work fine and in the interim I'm using Destiny Music Player, but I would like to get this issue solved.

Thanks

@ Beauford

I am sorry for missing your second post.

Have you tried what FredSchall suggested?...
1. Winamp > Ctrl+P
2. General Preferences > File Types
3. uncheck 'Enqueue files on double click in Windows Explorer
4. close out of Prefs > close & restart Winamp
No luck or that is not it? Try full uninstall > reinstall (AKA clean install) of Winamp.
