sounds like your copy of in_midi.dll is damaged, please scan your system for viruses and reinstall Winamp. [original post starts here] IMO your sound card drivers are broken or something like that. which windows OS do you use ? i suggest that you try the latest MIDI plug-in update - it might fix the problem. btw, what do you mean "every time when i try to play something" ? every time you start Winamp / every time you try to play MIDI file / every time you try to play any file (mp3 etc) ? also try updating directx. |

could you write down exact error message again (from the latest in_midi.dll version) ? i'm trying to track down which part of code is to blame. i especially need "Bytes at CS:EIP" section (there was something really weird about that section in the error message in your first post).

no problem, thanks for info. it wasn't exactly my bug after all (broken soundfont support in turtlebeach drivers), but i've added a fix on my side so it doesn't happen anymore.
also, there is something weird about the way windows reports code bytes at CS:EIP (it made me believe that your in_midi.dll is damaged becuase i seemed to have different bytes in my dll, but it turned out to be a false alert). |

in case you come here again - is turtlebeach your only soundcard, or did you upgrade from some soundblaster ?

you seem to have file named "sfman32.dll" somewhere (it was responsible for all this mess), and as far as i know only soundblaster drivers install it (it's for soundfont stuff). maybe aureal drivers support soundfont too, and they weren't uninstalled after disabling that soundcard.
[edit] try this: find sfman32.dll (should be somewhere in your windows/system), click "properties", this should tell you what installed that file. |

God Damn Creative.
that would explain everything - creative's soundfont manager does lame things when their hardware isn't present. i've made soundfont support disabled by default in latest in_midi so this story won't repeat. thanks for info. |
