From what you have described it sounds like there is no source connected to the server. You need a source and this is usually in the form of Winamp with the SHOUTcast DSP. This will allow you to broadcast whatever Winamp is playing so you would make a playlist in Winamp and play that to broadcast a list.

Here are the needed steps to get up and running. Verify you have done them or do them and see if that helps.
1) Download the DNAS. You can find it here: http://www.shoutcast.com/download/license.phtml 2) Run the file you just downloaded, this will install the DNAS. 3) Download the DSP. You can find it here: http://www.shoutcast.com/downloads/s...2b-windows.exe 3) Run the file you downloaded and this will install the DSP into Winamp. 4) In the Start menu find the "Edit SHOUTcast DNAS configuration" and change the password to something other then "changeme". You can also take this time to change your listener count and port base if you wish. 5) Open Winamp and load the DSP (Ctrl + P > DSP/Effect > Nullsoft SHOUTcast Source) 6) In the window that pops up go to "Output" highlight "Output 1" and press "Connection". 7) For the address leave it at localhost if the DNAS is on the same machine, otherwise put in the IP of the machine with the DNAS. 8) If you changed the port in step 4 then put the value you entered in here. 9) Change the password to what you entered in step 4. 10) Change the "Encoder" to 1. 11) Click on the "Encoder" tab. 12) Select "Encoder 1" and change the type to "MP3 Encoder" 13) Set the "Encoder Settings" to the quality you want. 14) Start the DNAS (Start > SHOUTcast DNAS > SHOUTcast DNAS). 15) Play a song in Winamp and press "Connect" under the "Output" tab of the DSP. Yeah it's up and running. You may want to add a title and all that other stuff when you get a chance. To do so in the DSP: Output tab > Yellowpages > Description field also you can fill in the other stuff.

Give this link for people to try to connect to you: http://24.164.94.114:8000/listen.pls
As far as those entries from your logs those aren't errors. That is just a log of people connecting and disconnecting... although it does seem odd the same IP kept trying and only stayed on for a few seconds and only got 8192 bytes sent. Tom |

That means that the DNAS is waiting for a connection by the DSP. The port number shouldn't cause alarm. The source uses the PortBase + 1, so that part is normal. You had the DSP connected at one point to get the yp_add so that is not the problem. It might just be a case of getting your IP wrong. If you are getting yp_tch then find your station in the SHOUTcast yp and have a friend try to tune in that way.

You need to setup port forwarding on whatever is allowing you to share the connection (i.e. ICS, router, etc.) Take a look at the manual for info on setting this up and/or search the forums for your device since this may have already been covered.

help?
I've followed the 15 steps that Tom posted, and I'm able to connect to myself, using the http://myip:8000/listen.pls. Granted, I only get about a 10 second loop, but it's enought to tell me I can connect.
Problem is, no one else can connect to my server. I don't have a firewall running, I'm on a Cisco 678 set in bridging mode (which is a straight pipe to the connection, no NAT or routing or anything). Any ideas? |

There is no firewall protection on this port." If i connect my winamp to my server (running on the same PC) this message appears: "[yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (Cannot see your station/computer (IP: 80.128.69.165:8000) from the Internet, disable NAT/firewall/ISP cache (Connection refused))" The sever works intern from any other PC in my LAN but not outside??? A friend tried this adresses: http://80.128.69.165:8000 http://80.128.69.165:8001 http://80.128.69.165 liverec://80.128.69.165:8000 liverec://80.128.69.165:8001 liverec://80.128.69.165 80.128.69.165:8000 80.128.69.165:8001 80.128.69.165 Need Help, Thanks ! |

I'm trying to run it but :S
ok...i followed the steps and fwded ports 80-81. at first the y-p was connecting to me and i could also connect myself but no one else could. so i changed the ports (all of them on fwd and in the shoutcast plugin and in the inf) but that definitely didnt work so i switch back to 80-81 and now its giving this msg.
<10/16/02@23:59:44> [source] connected from 127.0.0.1 <10/16/02@23:59:44> [source] icy-name:Everything and Anything...Almost ; icy-genre:Japanese, Chinese, English...all. <10/16/02@23:59:44> [source] icy-pub:1 ; icy-br:24 ; icy-url:http://www.shoutcast.com <10/16/02@23:59:44> [source] icy-irc:#shoutcast ; icy-icq:0 ; icy-aim:N/A <10/17/02@00:03:32> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave error (nak) <10/17/02@00:03:32> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (Cannot see your station/computer (IP: 208.59.192.68:80) from the Internet, disable NAT/firewall/ISP cache (Connection timed out)) any help would be greatly appreciated. Why is it that when I start the server it gives me this:
<11/19/02@22:06:03> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave error (HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request) and then like when i send my friends to the url http://my.ip.here:8000/listen.pls they get a cant find the server or they get a timed out |

Tip 16:You must first start up the "Shoutcast DNA GUI" server monitor before you connect with winamp. I didnt know this and that is why all last night i kept getting Connect~disconnect~connect~disconnect and so on and so on and so on.... If I knew this info last night I would have saved myself a headach. hehe.

Your listen link: http://yourserverip:yourserverport/listen.pls It's difficult to say why the one you tried doesn't work if you don't tell us what you tried. Here are a few guesses: 1. Your ip is dynamic 2. You're giving out the wrong ip Fixes: 1. Get a static name for a dynamic ip at http://www.no-ip.com 2. Give out the right ip ![]() Don't know your ip? With the DNAS machine, go to http://www.whatismyip.com and see wht gets reported. |

admin login
I went to my status page on shoutcast, and I clicked on the admin login link. What is that for and how do I determine my username and password? Or is that not even something for me to click on? I've tried most combinations of passwords I can think of, but I'm not sure what it's connected with or if I'm even supposed to be going to that link.
Any help? |
