There is no installation needed! You have to replace the sc_serv file on your linux server with the sc_serv file from latest linux x86 package, which you can download on shoutcast.com.

And then the magic step: restart sc_serv

done.

I received this notice on shoutcast page.New DNAS Version Available
A new version of the DNAS is now available: 2.5.1.724

The new version has been automatically downloaded to:
/tmp/sc_serv_update_2_5_1_724.tar.gz
Please install this update as soon as possible, thank you.

Would not it be safer to do it this way ?

@maloti, this an shoutcast related forum and not a linux/CentOS support forum. If you are not familar with your used system, then let do this someone who is familar.

Just FYI...

Obviously, if your stream is being hosted by a 3rd-party hosting provider and you see this message on your DNAS index page, you will need to ask your hosting provider to upgrade the DNAS for you...

@TopFloorDjs: I don't know how/where I should start to help you. How did you manage the DNAS installation?

ok...but I'm wondering that you get the update-package because you will get it only with a installed DNAS. Anyway...you can also use the provided docs in the package, which you can download on shoutcast.com.

/docs/Getting_Started.html#Starting_the_DNAS_Server

tar.gz is a compressed archive like a ZIP. You have to extract it before you will get the files. You should do this with the same system-user, which was used for the existing DNAS installation otherwise you have to set the correct file permissions for each file after the extraction. If you only enter the path to the archive into the command-line, then you will get nothing more than a error-message as response.

These are linux basics and as I pointed, if you got the update-package, then you have a DNAS installed and I guess you know how to handle it. That is the reason for my question: What's your plan or better where is your issue?

Maybe is it easier to tell us, which linux-distro you are using, which DNAS version you are running currently, why you are using root instead of the system-user, where the DNAS is installed etc.

If you never managed a DNAS installation, then you will find many totorials with google:

https://www.google.com/search?q=inst...t+server+linux

If you stuck on a point, then tell simply where. To expect everyone is not able to use linux, when he/she ask about doing an update of a existing installation - I guess this inappropriate.

download and extract the package, replace sc_serv (and cacert.pem) of your existing installation, restart the service - done.
