Winamp not reading Album Artist tag on flac files?
I can't seem to get Winamp 5.33 to read the album artist tag in flac files.
I'm trying to use "Various Artists" as the album artist tag for compilations. I've tried setting "ALBUM ARTIST", "ALBUMARTIST" and "ENSEMBLE" tags to "Various Artists", but Winamp always seems to disply the value of "ARTIST" instead. What tag name is Winamp actually looking for? Am I doing something wrong or is Album Artist just not working properly for flac files? |

Yeah, oops, I don't think it's supported . . . as yet. Sorry.
in_flac just sees the fields visible in the FLAC Editor. You can edit the Album Artist field via the Media Library, but it will only be added to the ml database and not written to the FLAC metadata. We hope to address this problem in a future release (the sooner the better, imo). Hopefully, the FLAC editor will eventually look a lot more like the Vorbis Editor (where extra/special/hidden fields are recognized and can be added/edited). ps. yes, the correct Vorbis Comment style field for Album Artist is: ALBUMARTIST= |

OK, so at least it's not me. I was starting to feel kind of stupid. Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm really hoping this makes it soon. It's a major problem for me. Nearly my entire collection is flac. The full editor would be nice, but at the very minimum we need album artist supported.

Winamp 5.34 will be bundled with the new in_flac v2.0 which is based on libFLAC 1.1.4 and has a new file editor, with several additional fields.
![]() ![]() I guess Benski already posted a preview of the plug-in at hydrogenaudio.org (but this version has an outdated editor, heh): http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/...=52691&st=100# My Winamp Info Report | My Winamp Backup Log | My WACUP Info Report Own Projects: | Winamp Tray Control Icon Pack v3.5.3 | Winamp Backup Tool v3.5.1 | >> [b]Winamp Info Tool v6.0.3/b] << | German Translations: | Offizielle Deutsche Winamp Sprachdatei v5.66 | Offizielle Deutsche Winamp Sprachdatei Plus Version 5.666 Useful Winamp Plug-ins: | SNESAmp | 64th Note | NotSo FatSo | Highly Experimental PSF Player | Yar Matey! I'm on 5.666 has this been resolved yet? I can not get various artists in FLAC format to show up as a solid compilation it reads as individual artists.

Yes, this was resolved many years ago.
Nullsoft FLAC Decoder v3.1 (in_flac.dll) in Winamp 5.666 definitely supports reading of all "ALBUM ARTIST", "ALBUMARTIST" and "ENSEMBLE" for Album Artist, writing to ALBUM ARTIST field, and includes an Album Artist field in the tag editor. |

Not working for me, edited 'Album Artist' metadata on a FLAC soundtrack and it's still not grouping together so maybe it doesn't work for FLAC files... Unless I'm missing something.

Anyone know of a workaround? I'd love to keep using Winamp now that I've moved over to FLAC format.

Photos of Winamp 2 albums, 1 soundtrack added for testing.
