You forgot to add desktopalpha=1 to your layout properties. I think that's all that's needed..

PS: Glad you liked my Aluminum =). Are we so short on skinners that we can crosspost our comments and still understand each other?? Lol

ok ... the good stuff

I know how to do the albumart thingy, but how do I get it to show in my skin as inside the box of the skin I gave you ?

and that is what I missed out in the layout, schoolboy error duH!

I'm not on the PC now, you should gather the script from Bento and see how it's implemented on the xml, I think is something like <wasabi:albumart x="111" y="111"...>

ok got the album art to work great but as soon as I click anywhere outside the album art box the image changes into a huge pic of the album art within the boundaries I specified, so all I see is the top left corner of the art pic

any ideas ?

Heh

I repro the albumart issue! Seems a bit random, but I just fixed it by setting its size properties (x="0" y="0" w="100" h="100"). Try doing that every time you can on every layer you use to avoid these bugs. On this case on particular I THINK the original script is designed to allow a resizeable album art, that´s why it behaves oddly.

Oh and set the move="0" to move="1" so the skin is easier to grab and move around, is really annoying when the skins have such a big area to use and skinners don't set it to move the skin!! (plus it´s based on a very old behaviour from when the windows could only be dragged by the titlebar).

Seems like you're getting better and better every time at Winamp skinning! Now all you need to do is prepare a nice set of promo pics and do a proper release, you'll see that's a fun part too!

I'm just back from holidays and starting a new year at work.. (graphic design in a government department). Slowly, nice and easy heh.
Currently trying to get off my hood a couple of skins finished at 80% or so. Both are sort of a colab with fellow skinners and one is actually in a style very VERY different from everything I've done.. You'll see..

That misterious skin (¿?) is a bit on hold, thought I would have done it by now but seems to be taking longer..

About your issue, I won't be much better than you at it, I never started from scratch.
The main thing you need to know is that ML, PL, Video and Visualization windows are (usually) generated from a general "frame" which you skin through standardframe.xml and standardframe.maki. Then you can edit each window adding you elements but you need to generate separate xml for each Windows.
Take a look at my Komodo X skin and see how I call standardframe.xml and standardframe.maki from wasabi/wasabi.xml.
Then I load pledit.xml to set the type of window (Playlist on this case, set through container id="Pledit") and use the standard frame (acutally called from pledit-normal.xml, through <Wasabi:StandardFrame:nostatus x="0" y="0"....).
It's all there, you can copy those files and structure and / or rename as needed, but pay special attention to the new locations (it's a common mistake that can take you hours of cursing..).

maki cheats

I downloaded animVis.maki which works great and I edited some of the xml and worked, but when I put it in my skin it keeps giving me an .maki error, so its prob for old version
and has no .m file present.
so I need a .maki script for anim for animater layer frames.

hope someone can help

Any progress? If not, have a look at my study-frame.

To use it with your JVC Tape skin, you should either delete or comment out the following line in both skin.xml and xml/amp.xml:

<include file="xml/pledit.xml"/>

Basically, first you give Winamp the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle in the elements section and then tell Winamp how to arrange the pieces.

As for layers, groups and containers, you can read about them in FrisbeeMonkey's Tutorial.

the old timer I fixed well just put zeros on my picture so it it was over 9:59 it would just layer on top of it ...

just need to get the length as a Integer and not a string ... I know how to convert it to time after that.

going on with other things until he replies

JVC Tape

While you are waiting for help, why not add standardframe to JVC Tape? All you need to do is recolour the frame elements of screW tHis to #0E0E0E (14,14,14) and draw the screws from the corners.

JVC Tape, the largest Winamp skin on earth, is too cool to leave unfinished.

And please fix the author tag in skin.xml, too:

HTML Code:
<author>Steven Mould</author>
