Playlist numbers in parentheses and dark background

I am using version 5.66.

I am a loooong time user. I remember using Winamp in the late 90's. I still love it and consider it by far the best music player available.

I recently updated from an older version that I was using.

I have two questions:

1.) In this version, some songs in my playlist get highlighted with a dark background and have a number in parentheses just to the left of the track length.

Wherever I am in my playlist, WinAmp jumps to the the next of these files labeled as [1] at the end of whatever song is playing.

Why is Winamp doing this?

2.) I checked the setting for Winamp to import files in alphabetical order. I do this so that when I import an album, the track number preceding the song sorts the songs into the correct order.

If right-click on the folder with songs in it in Windows Explorer and select "Enque in Winamp", the songs get imported in order correctly.

If I select all of the files in the folder instead and select "Enque in Winamp", the songs get imported in a seemingly random order.

What's up with that?

Thank you!

Because you have created a queue, using the "Jump to file" plug-in. https://winampplugins.co.uk/jtfe.html
The queue is a sub-set of the files that are loaded in the Playlist Editor.

Yes! Thank you!

Now how do I turn off the functionality, so that when I select "Enqueue in Winamp" in File Explorer al it does is add the files into my playlist instead of placing them into a queue?

I don't see a way to turn it off. Sorry if I am being dumb.

What have you tried?

My guess: make sure "Add files into the queue for delayed playback" is unchecked.
Options > Preferences > General Preferences > File Types > Shell Options

Well, no because I don't want a queue.

I actually had the "Add 'Enqueue & Play to Winamp's Associated file types" option disabled.

I don't want to Jump to files when added from Explorer. I just want to add them to the end of my current Playlist.

When the File Types->Shell Options "Add 'Enqueue & Play to Winamp's Associated file types" option is enabled, the "Enqueue in Winamp" file action actually performs an "Enqueue & Play" action ; i.e. when you add files from Exlporer, Winamp leaves the current song and jumps to the Enqueue'd files (which is "Enqueue & Play").

So, when "Add 'Enqueue & Play to Winamp's Associated file types" is enabled, both "Enqueue in Winamp" and "Enqueue & Play" do exactly the same thing. Seems like a bug. "Enqueue in Winamp" always added the songs to the end of the current playlist and continued playing the current song. That's what I want to do.

"Insert enqueued files after the currently playing file" is unchecked. I want the files added to the end of my current playlist.

"Leave playback on the currently playing file" is the option that I want, but it is only functional if "Insert enqueued files after the currently playing file" is checked. I don't want them added after my current file. I want them added at the end of my play list.

Is there anyone else that wants to select files in Explorer, have them added to the bottom of current playlist, and continue playing whatever song is currently playing without using a queue? I mean, just stick the songs at the end of my playlist, nothing more, nothing less.

I guess there is some configuration that will give the performance you want.
But I don't want to associate any file types with Winamp, so I won't experiment to find a solution.

However, you can drag and drop files onto the Playlist Editor.
Or onto a Shortcut, with /ADD appended to the target. ("C:\Program Files (x86)\Winamp\winamp.exe" /ADD)

Winamp has good command line functionality.
To investigate, type "winamp /?" (without quotes) in a command window opened at the folder containing winamp.exe.
