if vista allowed us to dictate the active main window then there wouldn't be this issue since it pulls the window related to the main window class which is always going to be the classic main window (which is there irrespective of what skin is in use).

the attempt we made to fake the modern skin window image onto the classic skin window (which you see) wasn't stable enough and was removed from the final 5.5 betas.

Sticky: Known Winamp 5 Bugs

KNOWN BUGS:

1. Known Windows Vista-specific issues

"DWM/Flip3D displays the built-in Classic skin for all Modern skins"
The issue varies depending on which modern skin you're using, which windows/components are open, and whether Winamp is minimized, in winshade mode, or in normal mode...

We did implement an initial fix in 5.5 public beta preview 2, but removed it again in preview 3, because it was causing too many crashes/problems.

[Edit] Bleh, I'm too slow today :-)
