Final Fantasy VII - 2 Official !!!

Well, almost a follow up to FFVII...

Quote:
Square Enix has announced a DVD title called Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. The story takes place 2 years after FFVII, the once peaceful world of FFVII has become corrupted again, and it seems both Cloud and Sephiroth are present in the movie. It is unclear whether this is only a DVD movie, or a full videogame

Interesting that no one seems to know if it's a DVD movie title only, or some kind of console follow up, the money seems to be on DVD only, so blatent cash in or offering something to silence the fans who've been shouting for a follow up for some time?

God, why are people so damn obsesed with FF7?
I am not to sure on what to say. I think they are using the FF: Movie tech to make this, its something to do with all that stuff they spent on it.

its a dvd movie for sure. they wouldnt be able to make a sequel without butchering the story.....they said it themselves.

and i dont think this is just for some quick money....they brought together the original develpment team just for this.

I think because it's such a landmark game for it's time, nothing had been seen like it before, coupled with the depth and emotion the story line generate, people genuinely fell in love with it.

Plus, the fact that it dragged a lot of people into RPG's that had never before ventured into that genre, and it was one of the few RPG's that has sold well in the 3 major game playing states, Japan, US and Europe...

I read somewhere, that square were loathe to do a remake of the original FFVII while the original was still playable on todays technology, so while Sony continue to make backwards compatiable hardware, FFVII will live on it's original format, if that were not the case, then maybe they would do a remake for todays technology...

Square is really running out of things to do...CLoud looks freakish! I seriously liked the anime style of the characters better. Will it just be those two..or will there be the other characters as well?!

I bet there are going to come out with more sequels to their games...

I don't know how the new FF games are going to be. I played the FFXI beta(yay for alienware) and was disappointed. The game took way too long to do anything.

I agree with caitcid, I like old style artwork. FF8 was so much crap. I just hope X isn't like that because I haven't played it yet. IX is my favorite

I am not happy untill I get FF6 on my GBA-SP.... it couldnt be that hard to do now.
But I really think it is just a project to use all the technology they invested in for the FF: Movie, that failed.

I really want Super Metroid FF6 for GBA/SP, because even if SNES emulators are ported to the GBA/SP, it requires 4 buttons plus L & R to play.

Okay a 2 year old thread, but why create a new when this ones (still) open?

Anyway, just watched Advent Children (don't ask me how i got it... ) and i have to say that it is pretty darn good, but im pretty sure that the fanbase will be strictly diveded into the haters and lovers of this film. On the other hand the graphics, fight coregraphy & music are just plain awesome and on the other hand the dialogue & plot are pretty horrible and the whole movie just doesn't seem to serve any purpose other than show-off. Though i have to say that since i don't understand japanese i have no idea of telling is the fan made english translation 100% correct and there might be some places where it is translated so wrong it ruins the plot or dialogue (i heard it was a pretty hasty job). So basicly if you want to like this film you gotta forgive the movie the horrible plot & dialogue otherwise your pretty much going to hate it i can assure you.

Still a must see for every Final Fantasy 7 fan out there and more than one viewing is certainly recommended, first time around you're most likely just staring at the graphics

I recently read about a sequel game to FFVII with the story focusing on Vincent or something like that.

I'm sure I've heard that as well, might just be fan boy rumors though, the official line was....

Quote:
Originally said by Tetsuya Nomura

On the possibility of a Final Fantasy VII-2, Nomura said that the chances of it happening are unrealistic. Nomura explained that Final Fantasy X-2 was able to be released since it utilized the Final Fantasy X engine, allowing production of the game in one year at only half the usual development scale of a Final Fantasy title. However, to make Final Fantasy VII-2, everything would most likely have to be created again from scratch since the data from the original Final Fantasy VII cannot be used. Thus, producing a Final Fantasy VII-2 would require the development scale of a normal Final Fantasy title.
Still, never say never, stranger things have happened.....

It does look rather sexual, but rumour has it you won't be getting that off from lik-sang.

I won't be getting it anyway, have better things to waste 329 clams on.

I might just have to indulge in a regular edition though....
