2 much time, 2 much Master Chief

There's an artifact in Halo 2 everyone is trying to figure out: skulls.

There are skulls, hidden in cryptically decorated rooms only at specific points at specific difficulty levels when certain objectives have been fulfilled. These skulls have names, and affect gameplay in subtle ways that fade out with time. They appear to be part of an incredibly complex puzzle that virtually no Halo player has the skill to attempt to solve.

Unlike similar artifacts in other games, like the Banjo Kazooie series and Perfect Dark (the beloved cheese) it would appear that these skulls, when collected in the correct order, actually unlock something in the game. 14 have been confirmed, with a possible 15th existing only intermittently in a dead zone in one of the levels.

Anyone at all interested in video games might wanna check this out, nobody is sure what the ultimate purpose of the skulls is. This is one of the biggest mysteries in recent gaming; the fact that the difficulty factor involved excludes almost all gamers from trying this makes it a curiousity. One wonders what could possibly be hidden in this game that is worth the time.

(I realize this is a topic about gaming, but if it could stay in general discussion just long enough for people to actually see it [gaming forum very slow these days] I would be very thankful. This is a very big game, and an even bigger mystery, that could be of interest to anyone as a curiosity.)

this is just a marketing technique being used more and more often in gaming.

they place something completely worthless to the game in some insanely obscure place no one will ever think about and start rumors about "something in the game that no one has unlocked yet" and get everybody into a stupid fanboy scavenger hunt.

please dont buy into it....you'd be no better then anyone who thinks you can revive aeris in FF7.

.........?.

Whoever figures it out first should win the geek/loser of the year award.

I know it's probably just marketing, but the fact remains that the skulls actually DO something, and have very specific criteria for if/when/how they do it.

That's less and less marketing and more and more a waste of programming time/money. I mean, this isn't going to persuade people to go buy the game, it's too difficult for that. Just doesn't make sense, which is why I post here.

HighImpactHalo has all 15 found so far with directions to getting them. BTW there is no hidden map besides foundation that opens after u finish the game unless u have Live!. Trust me, I snooped around on the disc trying to find another map file.

The "15th" would that be the IWHBYD skull (I would have been your daddy)? I've gotten a couple. Supposedly there is an acronymn on the back lable of the Halo 2 Vol. 1 sound track that matches up to the first letter of each skull title sorta. But some of the letters are repeated. Supposedly something might happen if the skulls are collected in the propper order but that is so much work, especially considering that there are 3 same letter skull pairs that would mean 8 possible combinations and doing that on legendary is too much time away from XBL.

According to posts by several highly respected forum members at the High Impact Halo forums, the final skull has been found--and it's a doozie.

The video will be released in the next twenty-four hours or less.

People HAVE talked to bungie about it. But Bungie always gives conflicting answers that logically can't be true; i.e., they're just fooling with us to keep up interest.

Almost 10 years ago now, those were the sorts of rumors that went around the gaming forums, lol.

Yes, I am reviving a semi-ancient thread here. But luigiHann: the tri-force actually IS in Zelda 64, it's just not useable. If you enter the pre-release setup of the gold cartridge (the later editions removed lots of unused stuff from the game memory, like the tri-force) you can get below the courtyard in Hyrule castle and find it there. It's floating on a pedestal in a small partial stone room, suspended in black unused space. And there you have it. It's accessible if you devolve the game's structure via a gameshark code to give you a path to where the tri-force stands. It's always in the gold cartridges; you just can't ever see it normally.

Just thought I'd finally explain why there was so much confusion (although I do remember all the fake stories people just made up.) Some cartridges have it, and later editions do not!
