The Three-Hour Edit Thing Sucks!

Well, it does. Sometimes I realise that something sounds shite, or I can't tell the difference between the Moon and Mars, and I need to go back and change it. Sometimes this realisation doesn't happen until a day or so after the post

I thought this was discussed before?

I am just a normal person sitting on the bench and reading newspaper and having a cup of coffee. Why can't people see that?

You can always ask the friendly neighbourhood moderator to change it for you, it is their job

J_Bloggs: You can edit a post by pressing the button for up to 3 hours from when the post was made.

I know how to edit a post, but I didn't know that you only have 3 hours to do so, thats more annoying than progammes on TV not being what there supposed to be.

It's to stop people being dumb asses by being able to edit/delete possible flame attacks....

For example....

Person A comes along, causes all kinds of shitola by starting a personal flame war with Person B

Person B, get his panties in a bunch and start flaming back.

Person C reports said flame war to a moderator.

Meanwhile, Person A quickly erases all trace of his crimes by editing his posts, there by making person B look like the guilty party.

There are many other ways the edit feature could be abused, think of how you could derail a thread by altering the intial starting post to something that has no relevance to the ensuing conversation?

It's there for a reason, be thankful it's 3 hours, the forums used to have something like a 15 minute edit on posts until the VB upgrade last year.

If your that desperate to edit something after this time, contact any of the Mods as Bilbo said, that's what were here for, that and the free llama porn.........

I didn't know it was 3 hours. I thought it was still 10 mins or whatever. Oh well, I usually read my post after hitting reply then edit it as need be.

Bah, you're too busy keeping Whippets, wearing flat caps, tweed jackets and wellington boots, driving old Land Rovers and saying "arrr"...
