"I've tried everything"

My question is, if I add more memory to my notebook, will this help my problem. I am curently running an HP 2.66 Pentium 4 512ram. If I upgrade to 768ram or 1 gig of memory will it speed things up?

Winamp is the best player ever. But I have one issue that still bugs me today. I have asked for help regarding a ten second delay on changes made to winamp. For instance,if I change eq setting, it takes 10 seconds to change, same goes for pitch control or sound effects. I have taken your advice and changed buffer settings lower which does cause the change to take place faster but it still takes about 5 to 6 seconds. The crossfader I am using works well...but if I lower the buffer so that dsp or eq settings take place faster then the crossfader mixes way off.

I also run Winamp on my desktop with the same plugin-ins and changes take place alot faster, within a sec or 2.
My desktop is running a 800mhz pentium with 512ram.

It's all about the buffer settings. Changing the eq immediatly changes the sound but it has to finish playing the part of the song that's buffered. Lower that and your problem will be gone.

Nope memory has nothing to do with it.

I have the same winamp with all buffer settings the same on both computers. Why is it that the laptop being way faster is performing slower to process the info than the desktop?

Ive tried lowering the buffers but it effects the sqrsoft dsp crossfading plugin alot.

Could be that the audio proccessor (sound chip) on the laptop isn't as good as the one in the desktop and therefore the desktop performs better.

Just a thought.

I think I figured it out.
As the out-put I took off Sqrsofts crossfader 1.72 and put the winamp default and changes occur about a sec later.

I had problems with the new sqrsoft crossfader 1.75 , anyone know if its been updated?
