^ I've seen A Beautiful Mind, which, as a movie isn't bad at all. But, Ron Howard completely "whitewashed" and even changed Nash's life. And since for eons he had trolled around Princeton, I will tell you for a fact, he doesn't vaguely resemble Russell Crowe, and would have preferred to date your dad rather than your mom, Because even if a guy can have sex with a woman, that don't make 'em straight. Also, it's never brought up how Nash had a kid with a nurse way back in the day, and then abandoned both of them. But Ron Howard makes pretty movies. They may have nothing to do with reality, but they make one feel good. Still strong performances by a good cast.

I did some Wikipedia reading on him after reading your post. It does list a few inconsistencies between his life and the movie. It does seem sad that Hollywood likes to sugarcoat reality, when even the truth would still have made a good movie.

Yeah. That movie had very little to do with the real John Forbes Nash(jr) His real life should have been made by a darker soul than Howard.

A Prophet I rewatched this on Starz. It is an amazing movie. Great acting, seamless..directed by Jacques Audiard . Well worth a watch.

Ballistic

It's what it's title says it is. Extremely low on plot, extremely high on martial arts, guns, and explosions. If you know, understand, and agree to this ahead of time, it's worth watching. I kinda knew ahead of time, so I was ok with it, but many critics list it as one of the worst movies ever made.

I thought that movie was a real stinker. I looked it up. It lost 50 million dollars, costing 70 to make and returning 20 at the box office.

Even with the enormous drag factor of Mira Sorvino, I liked The Replacement Killers 5/10.

Another 5/10 movie is Battle: LA. A race of liberal eco-conscious aliens try to take over Los Angeles. They are very "green" aliens in that everything they do is powered by water, therefore they have an extremely low carbon footprint. If you look close, you'll see the alien attack craft have "Change you can believe in" bumper stickers. You can tell these aliens were just trying to take over the planet for our own good. US marines from Camp Pendleton take offense, ignoring the properly indoctrinated grade school kid, who thinks "They just want to talk".

It sort of reminds me of Starship Troopers.... you know... the movie with Denise Richards most memorable performance... but it is a more serious movie. That is, if you can call a movie where shit blows up non-stop for two hours serious.

This was good jokes in a THX theater

What's Eating Gilbert Grape

It was assigned as a movie to watch for Renee's license renewal class. It's available free on an 11 part youtube. Aside from having to click the next section 10 times, it was a decent all-star movie.

I thought that movie was a period toadstool. Luckily Depp redeemed himself with Willie Wonka.

I just can't seem to like his acting. It's to the point where just seeing his face makes me want to leave or turn off the TV. I keep thinking about that recording where he was acting like a total dick by abusively scolding a stage hand for next to nothing. I see bits and pieces of that come out in his acting too. He just reminds of of the kind of cocky douche that needs his teeth punched down his throat. I already somewhat noticed it, but after that stage hand incident, I just stopped watching his stuff.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrvMTv_r8sA

No one deserves to be treated like that. Nobody. He questions a person's professionalism while dropping f-bombs and acting completely unprofessional himself. I refuse to support anything related to him and I don't believe he deserves any credit for what he does if that's the way he does it. People like that should lose their career and found guilty of harassment. I know if I did that on the job I would get both of those consequences, and he should be no different.

The Gods Must Be Crazy II

Both of these were panned by the critics, but more often than not liked by the public.

My recording PVR computer caught C a s i n o Royale. 1966. It's preposterously LOL. David Niven, Ursula Andress (wow.... she was hot) , Orson Welles, Peter Sellers...... In the category.... so bad it's good.

In order to confuse our cold war enemies, multiple James Bonds are released on the world. A cameo of Woody Allen playing Jimmy Bond and facing a firing squad... priceless...

A training program for the new "Bonds" to not be tempted by the wiles of 1966 babes.... funny...

If I watched this movie in 1966 (I was 4), I might have given it a "fair" rating. As a piece of vintage Americana, LOL.

Although I don't share the amount of enthusiasm Roger Ebert has for the film, it was worth a watch. I've seen Jolie do better. On STARZ this month.

I really liked Salt. I do agree that she has done better.

Not to be petty/catty ... but I also think she has looked much better. The last two movies I have seen her in (Salt and The Tourist) I have personally felt she looks quite unattractive. For what ever it is worth, my wife agrees with me and was actually the one to point it out.

One Way Out

I've had this sitting on a pair of VCDs for years and never got around to seeing it. If you're super bored, it'll pass the time. I wasn't so much bored, just really sleepy/lazy and didn't feel like doing anything productive, so I finally got around to watching it.
