Avitronic

Well, I was doodling today to get away from code for a while and ended up with this somehow! It doesn't really fit into my Solar System Series, so it'll be a stand-alone named Avitronic.

Of course it's still missing various elements. Don't expect it to soon, I already have a long list of projects to complete before I get back to this, but it's something to look forward to!

rpc good colors there, reminds me some 60's radio-alarms
prolly you could make those numbers in time text to look like these
I mean, you know those black numbers on a rolling white background that rotates with gear...... (I hope you know what I mean)

Keep it up bro I like this, you could include it on a new series with 60's stuff designs

It was manufactured in Japan, duh! Wasn't sure about that either, but I've had that font sitting around for a while and have been itching to use it. Not sure if it will stay...

meh, I don't really like it. It's kinda odd, clunky, and large for my desktop. Plus you're wasting a ron of space. And that "power" button... man that is reaaaaly odd.

Like I said, it's still missing a lot of elements, the empty space will fill up. That power button is not a power button, it will be a volume knob, but I guess the lines on it are misleading. I'll be adding some tick marks and making it clearer that the knob turns. And of course, there will be smaller modes, but even this large mode is no bigger than BOOM, MMD3 or PAD. Is PAD too large for your desktop?

I didn't mean that it was too big, it was a figure of speach, simply meaning that it's odd shape will not "mesh" well on my desktop. Clunky if you will.

Darn those rectangular shapes! They are so hard to fit inside my round monitor!

Correct! It is not a rectangle, it's rectangular. Meaning it more closely resembles a rectangle more than say a circle or triangle. Although rectangular shapes are rare in the computer world, I hope a few people will find a place for this rectangular skin on thier desktops.

Hey rpc, Invicta really threw you off your normal "schedual", didn't it?
Have you given up on the planetary skins, and this one?
I read somewhere that you were gonna sell the venus skin?

Well, the thing is Invicta and some of my other projects got a lot of good press which brought in some interesting opportunities, so I've been working with various people on commercial projects. And to be honest, I think I've pretty much had my fill of it. I'm not going to be taking on any more of that work so that I can get back to personal skins which I actually enjoy making.

So I still very much want to finish up this any my planetary series, but need to finish up the commitments I've made. If you can all bear with me a bit longer, I'll get back to these and some new fun stuff that I can share!

care to elaborate on what sort of commercial stuff you've been doing? I just want to see your work. (other than the oakly and T3 stuff which I can see on your site ) And also, if you keep doing this, vag (I think) had someone (HH maybe) creaet a script to curve text, and it may be able to make your text look #D as well. I'll find it if you are interested.

Told you I would not forget about this! I'm just filling out the design a bit, nothing is final at this point. I will keep doodling on this and the other windows and post updates as they develop.

This one is *not* going to be done as quick as my Halloween skin, I want to spend the time to do this one right and put in all of the extras.

Comments and suggestions are welcome!

Any interest in that 3D text script that I mentioned earlier (although I typo-ed it as #D)? Looks very slick as it is though. I am interested in seeing how those on/off switches look. As they are now, they seem to be neutral. I would use what you have now as a "on press" image, and try to tilt them more to show on/off. I am assuming that they are going to be soemthing like a light switch where (from teh side)

code:

/ = on
| = on press
\ = off

the top of the slashes coresptoned to the top of the switch, so that when the switch is "on" the on part of the switch is pushed down. Does that make sence?

wow, NOW I like it. Thou, a couple of things:
-It would be quite cool I think if u can make that volume wheel switcheable between vol and thinger, mainly cause it's a waste of space don't u think? __________
-Ooooor, u can make it thinger and turn those lines; ____/ / ////// into the volume bar...
-NEway, thinger can go into the top space, between that pair of buttons on left and "min/shade/close" buttons...

EDIT: Sorry, I thought it would work that "draw" I did, if uu don't get what I mean; I talk about those draw lines under the word "400", wich I think is part of the graphic, but still would very good like volume bar...
