Problems so far: if I change the volume in WinAmp, then it affects the Wave setting in the audio mixer rather than just WinAmp's own volume (so everything using the Wave device will be affected). Using "Alt Volume Setting" in WinAmp Output plugin fixed it, but now there's a 1 second delay before WinAmp reacts to volume changes.

Uncheck "alt setting mode" and make sure "enable volume control" is also disabled. You'll still be able to control winamp's volume, but winamp won't control windows' volume.
