Mail Hate

I really hate the Royal Mail. Royal screw up more like.

A few weeks ago on Ebay, i won an auction for a very rare, very hard to find model of Abbey Chase of Dangergirl (you know, the comic i like). This particular model is one of only 3000, so they are very sought after and very collectable, so i was pleased to have won one, although £130 was a lot, it was worth it.

This very morning, a large parcel arrived and I knew it was the figure, and I was busting a gut to get it out and onto the shelf (before the taxi came to take us to TTT). I nearly swore a lot more than usual when Abbey came out minus her hand and both feet. The fucking delivery people had managed to break it even though the box implicity said "Fragile, please handle with care" on EVERY side. The model was well packed and stored within the box by the person sending it, and he had gone to a lot of trouble to make sure it would be taken care of (insured mail and all) but the retards had still managed to break it.

Now I wouldn't be too bothered if this was one of the mass produced figures, but it was one of only 3000 and I am slightly miffed.

Anyone else got any mail horror stories?

Now send this to 10 people and Aj will kill you and hang your bloody fucking head on his car antenna to show the world the effects of chain letters.

I never got one again, probably because everybody in my state learned how I react when the e-postal service messes up my mail.

I know how you feel Bilbo.

If it was in a box, how did they manage to break it without crushing the box totally? Sucks though, you sure the guy hasn't sold you a duff one?

I've actually been very happy with the Royal mail over the last year, always been very competant, prompt and reliable.

Everything government-concerned these days seems to get fucked up (but royal mail is to do with the government, right?).

Next time use UPS...or don't you have that over there? I'm not being wise (obviously), just asking.

UPS is bad with packages. I don't know what you Brits have as far as shipping options, but Fedex or USPS are generally the best option for those of us in the States. I have heard enough horror stories from UPS to know to avoid them when I can.

I just use the old mail service. United States Postal Service. Good stuff, and a whole lot cheaper. Haven't had problems with anything being broken, and I've sent crystal stemware before, and it made it. Can't beat the conveinence either- for me at least. It's only a half-block away.

Lots of love,
Mea

P.S. Bilbo: I hope you get that straightened out. Shouldn't have happened!

The pics could have been taken prior to the guy who sent it to you breaking it, and then he carefully packed the broken peices saying "he'll just asume that the mail is responsible for the breakage, after all, I have pictures taken at an indeterminate date, you can't argue with that kind of evidence."

As I say, I have dealth with him a number of times before, and I do trust him, and is it really worth his time to break something that in the end is going to be very sought after and very valuable?

In good news, the RM (now there is a scary co-incidence) should recompensate me fully. It still doesn't take away the fact that it is broken, but I suppose I can take it somewhere to get reparied.

I didn't mean to imply that he intentionally broke it just for the hell of it...what I meant was that maybe after the sale was agreed upon, the model got knocked off his shelf by his cat, or he tripped when he was carrying it over to package it, or something accidental like that.

Maybe, but he would have told me, and sent me my money back.

No matter, RM insured the delivery, so I can get my dough back, but I would have liked the statue intact.

"ach" or "alas" is infinitely classier than "o"
