Video issue: Where has the "Use Overlay" option gone?

Hello,

after a very long period of time in which I was still using Winamp 5.56 on most of my machines, today I want to come to a decision whether or not to "roll-out" 5.601. It's no easy decision, as there have been many substantial changes since.

For example the built-in video support, or the new Full-screen OSD requiring new DirectX libraries to be installed. Which has led me to NOT install Versions >5.56 up till now.

But now I tested it on one machine and the first thing I realized was that the option to use Overlay mode for the Video window has gone! Where is it?

It's a rather old PC, and videos are showing tearing lines and playback is jerky.

Has the option been moved to another settings page or is it simply gone? If the latter is the case, I unfortunately will have to stick to 5.56, which runs perfectly on Windows XP...

Best regards,
kzuse

I still use 5.56

All I have ever heard is "it does the same thing" and "is hardcoded" it may be hardcoded but does the same thing is BS they don't know what it does and don't have a clue on how to fix it. If I use any newer version I get screen tearing and no overlay controls through the Nvidia control panel. I am using a GTX460 (this crap started on a 9600GT lol) and a dual monitor setup. monitor 1 is pc lcd and monitor 2 is a TV lcd. If you want a player for movies get BSplayer it lets you choose from many overlays. I am using EVR right now with a borderless video window. If it wasn't for milkdrop I would have deleted winamp long ago and I paid for the Pro version.
