Noobie needs help

I really enjoy broadcasting. I set up my shoutcast server, and winamp and broadcasted a audio signal with no problem.

Now I want to send a video signal. Problem.

Here is the facts - I bought a Hauppage TV card to input signal. I downloaded NSV and installed without problem. However, when I capture video, if I have the audio set to MP3 and check "capture audio", it GPF's after about 14-17 frames. If I choose PCM I can broadcast, but do not have audio.

If I save to a .nsv file, the same thing happens. However, if I convert a avi or mpeg to nsv, the sound is intact and I can broadcast with sound. The log says the following:

Application exception occurred:
App: (pid=536)
When: 2/23/2004 @ 03:45:22.348
Exception number: c0000005 (access violation)

I read some article that suggested uninstalling and reinstalling, but this PC is dedicated to broadcasting and I installed a clean OS (Windows 2000 Professional). The only thing on it is the NSV, the DSP, Shoutcast and the VC3 codec that was suggested to download. I will do the reinstall process if you think that will help.

Here is what I am running.

PIII - 550mHz machine, 196 Meg, 32 Meg NVidia video card, SoundBlaster Live audio, Hauppage 878 TV tuner, 20 gig HD. Running Win2KPro.

There was a typo. When I said I downloaded VC3 codecs in my original post I meant VP3 codecs.

I don't understand what you are asking here. What NSV software? I downloaded the latest NSVTools from the site. The errors are coming from NSVCAP - DirectShow Video Capture Version 0.2. Is there another version?

There are a lot of them out there. Each one has helped, but each one has also been a pain. Is there a good set of instructions you suggest?

Check list for starting your own Winamp TV station using Nullsoft Video.

OK. I went through the checklist. I did the nsvenc /config and set up the video as VP3 - 100 kbps with MP3 (CBR and VBR) 8 bit mono.

When I run nsvenc, it resamples to 1ch@22100hz but then errors out:

error creating audio compressor

I have even tried the ABR option.

Here is a bit more info: if I turn off the audio, the program will not connect to shoutcast and will drop all the frames.

Could it be that Hauppage TV card? Were they tested with NSV? It has a 878 chipset (if that helps)
