SHOUTCAST regularly down?
I have experienced my radio station stream being down a lot recently.
For example, today it has been down for around 7 hours now. Really hard to establish my station when im getting screwed over my shoutcast (with whom I am paying a monthly subscription to use) Stream URL streamingv2.shoutcast.com/cmru2 Port 8000 Stream ID: 3239 Does anyone have any better streaming server options besides Shoutcast? I am wasting my money at this point. I don't understand why it has to go down weekly for hours at a time yet other online radio stations stay up all the time. also the cust serv response rate is slow. Sorry for the hostility, but this is understandably frustrating. Everything checks out on my end. |

If Shoutcast would have been down for hours as you claim, there should be many more complaints about it.
Since you seem to be the only one with that complaints could it be an issue on your side? Do you have server logs to prove your statement that Shoutcast is down? as you cleary state yourself , other stations stay up all the time which proves that Shoutcast was not down... shoutcast it's down also for me from yesterday and not for only CMRUbroadcast. I thik that the problem it is for many shoutcast users.... This month has been down for the first days of this month.

Station not playing now. This instability used to be free. Now we get to pay for it. What a joke

went to my server log and it tells me Server Status: Server is currently up and public. Stream Status: Stream is up at 192 kbps with 2 of 25 listeners (2 unique) Listener Peak: 5 Average Listen Time: 113h 51m 32s Stream Title: darkwave radio Each Thursday a new show on Celtica Radio with Darkwave music. ************************************************************************** WINAMPSHOUTCAST |

My radio does work. It sounds perfect. But the data that TargeSpot posts, is not correct. For all countries they indicate the same values (even in countries where there is no advertising)

NJK. I'm not referring to targespot. Can you leave this thread please? Sorry, You're just being confrontational and not being helpful. This is really upsetting for me as I'm trying to get listeners to my station, I'm paying a subscription and my station is constantly down. Been down for all day today. I've contacted Shoutcast and they respond usually after 12-24 hours and do confirm it is from their end. The point of this thread was to see if it was just me. But clearly it's not.

One question from my side: Is it even worth hosting your stream server at SHOUTcast? Wouldn't a solution of your own be better?
Or what are the benefits? |

Yeah I wonder that as well. I should talk to my engineer and see if this is an option. I only manage the station and do not understand a lot about the technical side of things. Hence my frustration (sorry @NJK , i know you were trying to help). My engineer (he is in charge of all the equipment, streambox, logger, etc) assures me everything is good on our end. I agree, why can't we just host it our-self? Thank you for bringing that option up.

I switched over to Icecast. Think Shoutcast but open source. No profit and the software is free. Both have been around for a long time but while Shoutcast sat dormant for a loong time Icecast was being developed. I never figured the stability change would be what it was but my servers run like they have never run before. No errors. Nice and stable. Many providers support it as well but I have mine running on dedicated and vps servers and set up round robin dns to distribute listeners among the different instances.
Sad to say but I should have done this a long time ago. |

Our 2 stations : National Underground Radio and ICT Radio
are constantly up and down and we check every aspect on our end. I think we have had something like 13 tickets submitted to support in the last month. It is getting awfully hard to run a business legitimately competing with corporate FM stations when your stations are so unstable. We have thousands of people flowing to our website to listen etc and the station is frequently down. It is killllllllllllllllling our business. |

If you haven’t notice there is no help or reliable support here. I’m just straight up honest. I’m not trying to push people way but rather share an temporary solution until Shoutcast grows up and gets their stuff sorted. I’ve seen the same patterns with them over the years and it’s like they never learn from the past. But I also understand I don’t know what’s up behind the scenes with them and the new company.
