Speaking of avatars, why are we stuck on using 50x50?
Why can't we increase the size to 80x80 or up to 100x100?

Avatars don't need to be any bigger, the post is the most important thing. Also some people on slow speed connections probably wouldn't want to have to wait for larger avatars to download (but still want to show them for easy identification of users)

I look at avatars as an extension of someone's creativity,
which to me, is equally as important as their posts

That could be true on an art forum, otherwise an avatar is just a way of seeing at a glance who is post if by (assuming they keep the same one most of the time)

If you use firefox, text loads first, but if you use IE then you have to wait for the whole thread to load before it's displayed - avatars and all.

If you can make something better than what I already have, then sure, I'll take one.

oooooooooh... a challenge.

I don't know. I'm forced to use IE 6 at work, and in the forums for instance, the page loads until the brown bar where it says "Winamp Forums" in white, and then the rest of the page appears all at once, not post by post as it does in firefox.

I have your one in a bigger size if you wanted it d0rk. Possibly you just scaled it down so it'd fit the file size requirements for avatars though - I don't know how big the file'd be.

50x50 is plenty big, though a larger file size for longer animations might be cool...

50x50 pixels is more than enough space if you know what you're doing.

50x50 sucks ass. I love the 120x120 I get at another board. Don't bitch about it. My avatar there is less than 10 kB.

Because not everyone has broadband, some users (atmo off the top of my head) are running dialup (atmo=28.8 I beleive), and a page with 40 different avatar's and 40 different sigs takes a while to load

Just what exactly is the filesize limit for avatars? And I'd say 50 x 50 avatars look right, 100 x 100 are just too big.

I like my avatar. This is my favorite one. I enjoy looking at people's avatars, it helps me see thier mindset (or at least the mindset they show.)

You can imagine my mindset.
