the official "mod to be" voting booth.. come in

well fellaz... our forums gotta have more fathers
(i said more, because if i said 'better', all other mods
would be offended)

well, i wanted it to be a poll, but i dont know who to include
besides BOP so youre gonna write youre vote + why should
he be a mod!!

and it would be super if a girl will be a mod!!!

(hmmm, we have some good girls here )

my votes:

BOP or namloos

Theres about 30 mods. If they needed more, I'm sure THEY'D tell us.

Read "THEY'D" as "NOT YOU"

Also, some mods who were inactive for much of the year have popped back in and started doing their thing in the last couple of weeks. I would never want to be a mod, there's too much crap to deal with.
[edit]
http://forums.winamp.com/showgroups.php?
There aren't many on that list who I don't recognize, and I almost never leave the Gen_Disc and Winamp3 forums. I'm sure that the ones I don't recognize are busy in Skin Love, Bitchlist, Tech Support, etc.

I'm on my side. I'm just saying that I really don't see any reason for more mods. The Winamp boards are really pretty good compared to some other forums I've been too (I'm talking commercially sponsored, not underground or personal boards) and the complaint I most often see about Winamp forums is that the mods are power-happy. I don't believe this at all, but that's the one I observe the most often.

That all said, if there were an *official poll* (like they'll ever do one again ) I'd vote Bop if Bop asked for votes. But only because he watches cool movies

i get your point gonzo....
and a strong point it is.

you see gonzo... this forum (and many other ones) is full of
jerks and boneheads... maaan, [evil rant]the forums
are dry... nobody is talking sense here... and most peers
arent mature and need their mothers [/evil and stupid rant]

im trying to break the ice (the frozen water, not the mod)
here, you know... this forum is "dry" untill [metaphore] new winamp
pops out of his hole and says hi to all of us [/metaphore]

Thank you very much binary hero.
It's an honor to be mentioned in the same line as Boplicity.
I would consider that move, but I've got a lot of work
ahead of me at school, taking a bunch of programming classes
this semester.
I need to devote as much time as I can to that,
with this tired, worn out, flashbacked, brain I have.

Maybe later.
I'm still funneling all my vote money to Boplicity's campaign.
Woops...that was supposed to be under the table money.
Oh well...congressional hearings for me now.

dont call us; we'll call you.

all current moderators have been checked on. they have all been somewhat active. some just choose to lurk instead of flooding.

female mods dont seem to stay. its because you lonely technonerds always hit on them, imho.

female mods die out because there are better things in life than sitting around on a computer (not many) and browsing the forums. they become mods while they have nothing to do for a long period of time, then, when they get married or something otherwise, they leave to make babies.

and THAT is my 2cents worth of BS.

This is a really moot thread since, if anything, Admin-Laden are gonna scale back on mods. It doesn't appear that any new mods will be added for a VERY long time. A month ago, it was suspected that we would be streamlined down to about 6 mods.

steve said he'd possibly streamline the mod squad down a bit. but i doubt it'll get anywhere with that. it's takes forever to get admin to do stuff, so adding new mods will take 10x that. right now, we dont really need more mods... imho, it'd be that much easier to be abusive.

Even if admin were looking for another mod, and they decided we should pick who, I think people should volunteer themselves, not be volunteered. When I first came here, I wanted to be a mod...wow...power but now I've changed my mind. I don't envy mods any more. With all the stuff they have to deal with, I'd rather just sit back and post, and I think many other non-mods feel the same way (not that I'd ever be considered for mod anyway...)
