age differences

in light of the current state of the forums, what with the new winamp and all the new members and all the high tensions, i thought i'd start a thread that (i feel) is interesting, not at all useless, and if nothing else, NOT WA3 related. everyone here is welcome to add to it, new and old members alike. don't think of this as a game, but think of it more as an extended poll to provide me feedback that i'm interested in reading.

here's how it goes:

post your country of origin (and state, if you're in the US or one of the larger nations of the world).

followed by the oldest (and youngest) person you think a person of the following ages should be allowed to date.

as a general rule, i agree. i would like to say that a person can easily be old beyond (or below) their years, and individual attention is required though.

thanks all. i'm not taking demographics. i'm just in a relationship that is illegal in my state but not in some others and not in other countries. that's all. i was just wondering how much of a creepo i was. this has been very informative. as long as i stay out of prison, i feel a-ok now.

to check the legality of this topic in your area, go to http://www.ageofconsent.com. i think it's pretty nifty and informing (not necessarily that you're planning on using it, but i always love to know what i can and can't do)

Age of consent laws are pretty stupid. One of my good friends is 17. Her companion (it's an odd arrangement... he really isn't her boyfriend, but kind of is at the same time) is almost 28. They are what most people would call "the perfect couple". I have another female friend who is 26. Her old boyfriend, who was her age, beat her all the time.

These, I don't think, are exceptions. That why I'll repeat again: I go based solely on maturity.

Good point; I mean, dating teenagers is fun, but not if they're fat!

Seriously, though, eating a healthy diet would be much better for children than growing up with some bizarre "binge-purge" mindset put their by an insane, weight obsessed and junk-food obsessed culture.

That is a very interesting site trigear. according to the age of consent table, you can have heterosexual sex in New Mexico at the age of 17, but can have homosexual sex at the age of 13!

I work in a bakery for the time being. The other day, this 40 year old lady came in with two kids- one was about 16, the other was about 10. She weighed about 140 maybe; the oldest daughter weighed about 120; and the youngest weighed maybe 80. In other words, they were all at very good weights for their ages and heights. The mother told them they could each have ONE THING, but it better be something small, "since you guys need to be watching your weight and cholesterol". My jaw dropped. I felt so sorry for them.... and so fat lol.

And about age of consent? Everyone knows that it's half your age plus 7

You may seem to be at a perfect weight, but if you are genetically predisposed to high cholesterol, as most of my family is, you are at a dramatically increased risk of having a heart attack. Heart attacks at the age of 16 is not unknown.

You should watch what you eat, no matter your age.

Well... while that's true, after her mother said it the oldest daughter claimed to have low cholesterol, so "I can get whatever I want." If someone is that worried about watching what they eat, they shouldn't be quibbling over why they can't get a glazed donut instead of a cake donut. Go eat Snackwell's or something. Eat some yogurt. *shrug*

yes, it's stupid that homosexual and heterosexual ages of consent are different.

very true, rm', this past year, two gr 9's at my school had heart attacks

and about the age dating thing, i usually just say, up until 18, two years plus or minus
i went out w/ a 16 yr old when i was 18, and my girlfriend is a year older than i am

and about the weight obsession thing in young children, while there are many many overweight children, i find it disgusting when i see insanely thin parents trying to force their views onto their children
