I saw a report this morning that the U.S. military had captured several hard drives from vacated, former "Alan Qaeda" hangouts INTACT and were going to gain access to all their devious plans from them.

Don't you think it odd for an elite terrorist network to not only split the scene and leave their Winamp, porn, and evil plans behind but to also leave them behind intact?

Something doesn't sit right with me on this one.
I think we're beginning to infringe on the intelligence of the American people with this kinda crap. If they were smart enough to organize the 9/11 attacks and other heinous crimes, I doubt they would suddenly act as though we bombed the stupid into them.

1. we could have killed them or they fled before dealing with their records. they left behind plenty of supplies as well.
2. they made sure we see their "plans" so either they give us false leads and/or bring new fear elements into play if they discuss in detail their abilities.

Maybe they meant to destroy their hard disks, but they got distracted by that last bomb that dropped in their shelter.

Maybe they trust Windows and think that "delete" = gone forever?

I assume their are idiots from their previous actions and so forgot. i'm surprised they actually had computers in the first place. I guess they must have been running linux to be not quite so western. Or maybe they were using a PGP type wipe app (I know the pgp version isn't the best but it's the one i know). or maybe they typed "format c: /q"

That would be pretty weird if you had just finished beating the bishop and then you just vanished , where would you end up? Has it happened to anyone before? I can't say it has to me.

Perhaps the ones responsible for handling the drives and their contents had already given up or fled the area, and only "grunts" were manning the stronghold by the time that our guys got there?

Seems more likely to me then forgetting about them during a bombimg. I'm not discounting Chevs theory, OTOH.

the US is running out of 'reasons' to hunt down OBL, the media are almost forgetting about it, if they do, then the war will probably stop.

this made sense in my head.

But then most things probably do. I think if the media stops covering it, America will try something drastic rather than just forget about it.

I don't think the feds will keep the issues undercover. They need to keep this at the forefront so that they can justify more $$ for the D.O.D. without public outcry.
