Off topic I know, but it's kinda funny... there was just over a month between the releases of 2.04 and 3.00. There's been ~3 months between releases since then. Go figure--the biggest change to the plugin (the GUI redesign) was one of the quickest!

Actually, the 3.00 was the biggest change from the user's point of view, if you just look at the GUI. Internally, there were much bigger changes (Podcast support, cover art support, ...)

I think having 3 months between releases is a good time, ml_iPod gets more stable And we had LOTS of patch releases in between.
Don't forget: An official release costs me at least 2 or 3 unproductive hours (updating web site, FAQ,...), a patch release 1 minute.

No, I'm not complaining at all! Just surprised me, that's all, since I perceived the GUI refresh to be such a huge change. But you're right, in hindsight there's been a lot changed under the hood since 3.00!

firstly, i would like to say, good job. This is exactly what i was searching for and good that i've found it.

i want to ask something about the scrobbling.

what does the forced cache mean?

the audioscrobbler dosnt seem to send the info immediately to last.fm.

i also realise that when i start winamp, it says "Audioscrobbler offline mode, files are cached" or something like that.

sorry for these silly questions but could someone explain this to me?

thx for your time.

This is what the log file says.

New song detected - Opeth - The Apostle In Triumph (Orchid)

It's basically the equivalent of an email client's "work offline" mode: All song plays are put in a cache and won't be submitted until you switch to one of the "online" modes.

iPod Classic Skips

We sincerely appreciate your efforts in fixing the Lossless WAV file sync upload to the iPod.

There is, however, another problem which has arisen.
I have two iPods,
• The iPod Classic Model A1238 - MB150LL, Firmware V1.0.2 PC, 6th generation and
• The older iPod 80G Model A1136 - MA450LL, Firmware V1.2.1, , 5th generation (the one with the shiny glossy face).

Both use Windows File Format.

The new iPod Classic skips when playing WAV and other lossless file formats loaded via Winamp…but its predecessor does not.

I synced about 20G of the exact same lossless and MP3 music on both iPods (5G & 6G).

The older 80G iPod does not skip.

The iPod Classic 160G skips on most of the songs… In fact, it skips on every song in exactly the same place every time I play the song. By skipping, I mean, the song plays and then suddenly stops and the iPod goes on to the next song.

On Winamp, I can select the song in the iPod Classic library and it plays through the whole song on the PC.

I finally took the iPod classic back to Apple and they gave me a new one. The replacement iPod Classic does exactly the same thing. The songs skip in exactly the same place they did on the prior one.

I’ve read on a bunch of web sites where a lot of other people have been having the same problem.

The only way I can fix the problem is take the original CD and rip it using iTunes and then syncing the iPod. I’d hate to rescan all 700+ CDs I’ve already ripped with Winamp.

Apple’s suggested solution for the skipping problem is to run (sync) the song through the MP3 compression…on iTunes.
But, the reason for the 160G was to be able to load lossless files.

This has been a challenge since I bought the iPod Classic. The only way it seems I can load lossless file format is to use iTunes.

Please… There are a bunch of us waiting for these Winamp problems with the iPod Classic to be fixed.

Thanks....

Well, if even Apple tells you to convert to MP3 then iTunes won't help.

As a temporary workaround, you could transcode to 320kbit MP3. I guess you won't hear any difference to the lossless stuff (after all, the iPod is not a high end HiFi device)

I have no idea why the classic behaves so differently.

Hi. I just started using ml_ipod and I'm having an issue. I have a 5G 30GB ipod video. I'm trying to sync a playlist of 137 songs (5 albums worth) in it, but for some reason, winamp only transfers 117. I try to drag and drop individual albums, same thing. There are certain files it just won't copy over to my ipod and I have no clue why.

Probably they are not correct in your media lib. Try to remove "dead songs" from the ML first.

Definitely not the cast. Not only do the songs play normally in winamp, they transfer just fine with winamp's built in ipod support and play just fine on the iPod. I can't really find any reason why ml_ipod just ignores these files when I try to transfer them.

Maybe they are not MP§, but flac, or m4b, or whatever, and you have transcoding disabled?

All of them mp3. Like I said, they've transfered fine before with winamp's built in ipod support. But when I try ml_ipod, it seems to just skip a few songs from my playlist.

Weird! Please set trace flags to 15 in advanced prefs, then try the transfer again, and immediately after that create an archive with
"iPod icon->Help->Create archive for bug report"
and upload it to http://stashbox.org for me... Thanks (Reset the trace flags to 0 then!)

Feature request time:

In the main view, there's no way to select a column that represents "album artist" (aka band aka TPE2). Is this possible?
