Now that the snow is mostly melted, I can finally use a few shortcuts that save a lot of miles per day. Even without snow, the melted snow causes a bit of a barrier, but it's more fun than problematic. My daily work commute is 57 miles (92K) with the shortcut or 63 (101K) without. The clicking is the sound of my camera lens cover dangling around and the beeping is the annoying sound that the truck gives if it starts to slide sideways or fishtail (anti-skid engages). There's probably a way to disable that annoying beep but I haven't found it yet.

I figured I'd save some of you from looking up the bbcode to embed youtube videos. The chicken scratch letters in the middle are the weird numbers from an youtube url. Just cut it out of the url you want to embed.

I thought the intersection up the street was bad.

Keep your eyes on the road

This version of the forum is supposed to be able to support other embedded videos from other places, but not much in the way of documentation to tell you how.

I'm not sure I would. Under the conditions you were in, you sort of expect to slide, but it might save your ass some time if you hit black ice. You just aren't playing your music loud enough These new rigs are so cushy it's almost like fly-by-wire. My brother in law did a "Dukes of Hazzard" and totaled his truck about a month ago. Black ice. He might have liked the slip warning. It was a 2008 Suburban. It was a perfect example of how crumple zones work when you fly 20 ft up in the air and smack into a concrete culvert going 50. He did not walk away, but is ok now. It could be the difference between a beep and checking your shorts or no beep and waking up in the emergency room. Why is that beep there? They didn't do that for no reason.

I sorta know what you mean though

From a recent batch of Old Spice commercials, both awkwardly hilarious and mildly disturbing at the same time

"I just want to lie in my own crusty filth, eating rancid egg sandwiches, until some unfortunate paramedic has to blow down my door to find my bloated and pasty corpse wedged between the nightstand and mattress stained with Bengay and Robitussin DM." - Greg Gutfeld on sex and seniors
"Syphilis does not stay in Vegas. Debt collectors do not stay in Vegas. Dead hookers stay in Vegas, but the guilt stays with you forever." - Bill Schultz

you know that's not singing, that's impersonation, there's a bit of difference, talent aside (and he did goosebumped me, which is hard to do as my musical hearing can catch even the slightest pitch quirk), i think he should sing boy songs to see how well he controls his ranges and tones

don't get me wrong, i'm not disrespecting him, i just see those kind of performances as gimmicks rather than pure talent.... actually... i take it back... being pitch perfect in an abnormal vocal range is a feat and a gift, but as far as singing, i still want to hear him sing some lower key songs and then i'll judge

Unattractive/Social unfitting person in 'can sing shocker'.
If it was a hot girl no-one would really care too much.

People need to stop playing in to the media's hands and treat people equally rather than getting off over the fact a person that isn't stereotypically normal can do something.

You're all just being heavily influenced so you crave such things, rather than progressing yourself.

And so on.

not all people are entertainment prone zombies like you make them look, it's true... admiring a common person for the ability to make us laugh\cry\think\awe\faint etc.... by any means neccesary, instead of doing something for yourself, is a plain crime.

but there are people who look at media people for other reasons, curiousity is a main issue here, subliminally you compare yourself to the person you see on the screen, some dream and wish they were those people just for the fame, you know...

i'll go as far as saying we're being consentually raped by the media and we keep asking for more, whatever the reason may be, i like what i see and i see it for the heck of keeping my boredom at bay and keep me entertained in my darkest moments... if TV was a luxury like in the 40's - 50's ... i'd be bored literally to death, if that makes me a sad good-for-nothing... i don't care

[edit] why do you hang out with friends? same thing... entertainment
[edit2] isn't this forum entertainment?

Holy shit Beardyman and Lin Yu Chun are fucking amazing.

@Kingo - there's absolutely nothing "abnormal" about the male falsetto pitch range, especially during childhood or adolescence (have we forgotten the Jackson 5?), plus, it is indeed singing if it's using one's voice in a controlled pitch and rhythm, regardless of whether or not it's a copy of someone else's song. Personally I found the performances quite impressive, regardless of whether or not he were "socially unfitting". Most of the "hot girls" have to pre-record their voices in a heavily controlled and often edited environment and lip-sync while live. Those who attempt to go live without it tend to show quite a drop in talent compared to what the studio would have you believe, or they have loads of pre-recorded backup singing to cover it up. This kid seems to be doing fine live without all the extras, which is why I give him plenty of credit.

Come to think of live performances, I need to check out Beardyman's touring schedule. I'd love to see him perform.

Don't forget to live before you die.
