BloodRayne

I just downloaded the demo for this game, and I'm lovin' it so far. Crank up those high-end vid cards and enjoy.

Check it out (File Planet).

i'm still unsure as to whether or not i should waste my time trying it. the game box tells me nothing either way, and it doesn't rent too well at blockbuster. it seems like it might be a decent game, but i'm not sure.

I think it's pretty fun, but then again, I don't game that much. Also, I don't have any gaming consoles, just PC. It's possible it doesn't rent well because there are better console games? I don't know. The demo's bad ass.

tell me about it. how are the controls, simple or complicated? how is the gameplay, puzzle, stealth, fighting, platforming, what? graphics are obviously nice...

i don't rent or buy or download games when i can't tell what they'll be like. you'd be surprised how much crap is out there for the consoles and pcs... i only need to look at the ps2/gcube/xbox section of my store to see... who the hell wants to play "spongebob squarepants' whacky adventure" or "mary kate and ashley learn to drive"?! at the same time, there are games out there that look real good but end up being crap, like star wars bounty hunter and shinobi. i wish we had decent rpgs for the ps2 at my store. all we have is grandia 2, which blows major llama testicles.

Controls are pretty easy to learn. The interface is third person action, similar to Jedi Outcast when you have the lightsaber equipped. You have melee weapons (blades) and can use many types of guns. Your character is half vampire-half human, and has many supernatural abilities. My fave ones are:

(a) to regain health you have to suck people's blood in the middle of battle (the graphics and sound on this are awesome: you straddle the enemy and make slurping noises while he screams for help, spraying blood everywhere), and

(b) "dilated perception," meaning you can slow down time and the game plays like a fight scene from The Matrix (I understand that this was done in Max Payne as well, but I haven't played it so I can't compare directly). This is when you get to see all the cool martial arts animations.

The gameplay is mostly action/fighting, but some thinking is involved (mostly planning ahead before entering a specific area). No puzzles that I've come across. You can jump really high and there are rooms that are two or three stories high with catwalks, but since you can't die, or even lose health from a fall, it's not really platforming.

I'm almost positive it's better than the Mary Kate and Ashley game.

The game is one of the best I have played in recent weeks, and I cannot wait until it is released in the shops, probably february. Killing Nazis is always fun, but doing it vampire stylee is even better!

w00t! Support from Bilbo.

In the states the game's not supposed to come out 'til March, but I heard it might ship early.

I just finished the demo. Awesome.

The Demo was surprisingly challenging I found. The ability to catch Nazis with a chain before slicing them up with your knives is a piece of greatness. I am badly impatient for this to be released.

It seems to run pretty well on quite low end systems as far as I know.

As an extra incentive, the lead character is female, and has great breasts

You won't regret it, good sir. And yes, Bilbo, the demo was quite challenging. Knowing the areas made it easier to plan ahead. I will definitely buy this when it comes out.
